Movie Review: Kismet Konnection

It’s amazing how you can speak right to my heart ...

Without saying a thing, you can light up the dark...

It’s amazing how you can aptly use these lines to describe the expression in the eyes of Vidya Balan. Her eyes light up the scenes in Kismet Konnection. Like Jaane Tu ya Jaane Na, Kismet Konnection too moves on familiar lines. There is nothing new in the story line – in fact, the story is somewhat predictable in the way it twists and turns.

However, two notable things about the movie are the chemistry between Raj Malhotra (Shahid Kapoor) and his best friend, Hiten Patel and of course between, Raj and Priya (Vidya Balan). However, I was left feeling disappointed with the characterization of Haseena Bano Rani (a special appearance by Juhi Chawla). While I do believe that Juhi was perfect for the role, I think that the Director should have worked harder on this character rather than let Juhi act out her Kurkure-act. Still, the character eked out a few laughs from the audience but frankly, I believe Juhi was wasted in this role.

Those of you who went to watch the movie expecting another Jab We Met would have been left severely disappointed – I went in with a fresh mind, harbouring no expectations from the movie (all due to the average reviews of the movie) and I was left pleasantly surprised at the end of this 2hr, 45 min flick! I liked the movie – it had a nice, feel good factor about it! And of course, Neeraj Shreedhar rocked with the title track.. The music was decent, with Bakhuda Tumhi Ho and Kismet Konnection (ae pappi) being the highlights! Go watch it, it’s pretty decent stuff and especially, if you can’t get tickets for The Dark Knight

A passion for reading translates itself into a passion for writing .. Or you may say, that beacuse of loading too much of what I read onto my brain, I constantly need to pen it down to help my brain cope with the craziness floating around in my head!

I saw it and it is truly lovely and simple. In fact it's far better than a Race or some other raunchy Bollywood movie. And yes definitely dont go with a JWM hangover, I also went with an open mind and I truly enjoyed.
The movie is good and connects with the working middle class and the struggles an individual faces when trying to make a career happen and hopes that he too can find a lucky charm (which in real life does not happen but o we so wish it happened to us). So instead we go and enjoy and light hearted movie and come out with hopes and dreams.
Shahid has done a great job, in a way he carries the whole movie on his shoulder. All the supporting cast is good too. Vidya and Shahid are not too bad together either (but they don't have many romantic scenes together so its hard to judge).
All in all it is a sweet, simple, free of vulgarity and lovely movie. I am going tomorrow to see it again, it is definitely one of those movies that gets better with every watch as it is slow paced and there is so much to digest. I loved it!!

And Varun, no you don't go to see it if you don't get the tickets for Dark Knight. You still somehow manage and get Dark Knight tickets??
And you also still watch KK because they are just so different that you just cannot talk about them in the same breath, it is wrong to do so!!
That's like comparing Rajma-Chawal(love it but can't cook) with say a Valentino gown (love them too but can't have them), doesn't make sense I know I know!! Exactly my point, you don't compare two such varied things ;) ;)
