Chapter Eight : Learn to Enjoy your Success

"Bye Bye Bhenchod"

Yadav raised his gun and pointed it at Neha's forehead. Neha had started crying. If this was the extreme point of fear, then she had reached it, and was now racing beyond it.

"Please please please..."

The door opened with a huge thud. Yadav quickly turned around to see what it was.

Sumanth stood at the door. He looked at Yadav. Neha was on the floor crying. She was badly bruised. Her face had dried off marks of blood that had streamed down.

The distance between Sumanth at the door and Yadav in the room was about 20 feet.

Sumanth started walking swiftly towards Yadav "Let her go..."

Yadav was still trying to come to grips with the new entrant on the scene

"HEY STOP WAIT THERE..."

Sumanth wasn't listening. Yadav turned the gun away from Neha's forehead to point it at Sumanth. Seeing that, Sumanth's paced walk turned into a dash.

"YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE"

The voice came from Yadav's right. It was Atanu Datta standing straight behind the sofa, with the hotel's table lamp in his hand. Yadav looked at Atanu. His eyes, managed to catch a glimpse of an object flying towards him that looked like a table lamp.

The lamp got Yadav on his right eye. Now about a few feet away, Sumanth jumped to get Yadav. They both crashed on the floor with Sumanth on the top. The gun slipped away from Yadav's grip. Sumanth took the broken table lamp and raised it in the air...

"I've had enough I FUCKING HAD ENOUGH I'VE HAD ENOUGH"

Sumanth was slamming the table lamp on Yadav's face again and again.

"I'VE HAD ENOUGH YOU BASTARD. I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU BASTARDS. YOU TOOK MY HOUSE, MY BUSINESS, EVERYTHING I HAD... FUCKING ASSHOLES I'M NOT GONNA LET YOU GET AWAY WITH IT ANYMORE..."

Sumanth did not stop. He kept on hitting Yadav's face with the table lamp with all his strength. Yadav nose had been flattened out.

Ashwin and his assistants had reached the room. They pulled Sumanth back. Atanu had picked up Neha and they both stood at the corner, looking at Sumanth and the people who had rushed into the room.

Sumanth half raised his hands to let Ashwin know he was ok. Ashwin let go of the grip over Sumanth. Robin picked Yadav up and sat him down on the sofa. Yadav had his face covered with blood, but he was still adamant

"You guys will die for this..."

Ashwin places his gun on Yadav's temple.

"Call Gujarat House and tell them everything is ok"

"No"

Without wasting a second Ashwin placed the gun on Yadav's right thigh and pulled the trigger.

Yadav tried to scream from the pain just drilled into his body, but Ashwin's left palm had tightly shut his mouth down.

Yadav was breathing hard. Ashwin waited for a few seconds.

"Call Gujarat House and tell them everything is ok"

Ashwin waited for Yadav to reply, who was still trying to pull himself away from the shattering pain injected by Ashwin's bullet.

Neha and Atanu were puzzled, confused, shocked, numb and feeling quite dumb, all at the same time. They had no clue what was going on, who the people were - that came in after Sumanth and how the hell were they able to shoot Yadav without much hesitation.

Sumanth was intensely looking at Yadav. If he had a gun in his hand, he would have shot Yadav in his face. The anger was still lingering somewhere inside him. He looked to see Neha and Atanu holding each other and the puzzled looks on their face.

"They are friends. Long story..."

He moved towards them.

"You guys ok?"

"Y... Yeah"

"You Atanu?"

"I'm fine"

Neha looked at Atanu "I was worried you were dead"

"Hell no, I was knocked out for some time, but I was fully conscious since the last 15 minutes"

"You WHAT? YOU WERE AWAKE AND YOU DIDN'T HELP ME FROM THIS BASTARD"

"Hey!!! I was waiting for the right moment. Look at him. He's too strong for me"

"Hell Atanu!!! Waiting for the right moment? SO YOUR RIGHT MOMENT CAME WHEN HE WAS ABOUT TO PULL THE TRIGGER???"

"Well I was still waiting for the right moment, but when I saw he was going to kill you I thought maybe I'm not going to get the right moment"

"I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ATANU"

"Hey Lady, My lamp throw saved you"

"OH Much Thanks!! Actually I think it was Sumanth who saved me"

"WHAT???? It was my lamp before Sumanth actually reached him"

"Guys... could you settle this later?"

Neha and Atanu turned to Sumanth.

"Later perhaps... we have to get MK out now, remember"

Ashwin punched in Modi's number on the hotel phone and gave the receiver to Yadav...

"Talk..." His gun rested on Yadav's temple.

Modi at Gujarat house picked his cell phone up

"Modi saab... Yadav speaking."

Modi leaped off his chair "Everything ok??????"

"Everything fine Modi Saab. I have the fax confirmation from the bank and everything looks in order."

"Good. I'm sending Joshi in my car to the hotel right away"

Ashwin placed the receiver back on the cradle.

"Thanks Yadav"

Yadav smirked... "You won't get too far..."

Before Yadav could complete the sentence, Ashwin had pulled the trigger. The bullet pierced through his left temple and ripped out through his right.

Yadav collapsed on the sofa.

"Clean up time boys"

Robin and the other assistants got into action.

Neha didn't realize she had let out a shriek as soon as Ashwin pulled the trigger. Watching Yadav collapse on the sofa had Atanu peeing in his pants. Sumanth felt a slight surprise, his body jerked back a little on the last shot.

Ashwin looked at the three members of the MBA Gang "Coffee? Have some coffee or a beer in the coffee shop downstairs. MK should be back within the hour. Try to wash up and relax and you can get going from there. Sumanth, why don't you update them on what's going on?"

Sumanth held his arm around Atanu and Neha "Let get some food and a drink guys. We are done."

Neha and Atanu were still stuck in a state of shock.

There was a long silent pause.

Finally Atanu spoke.

"I think I just peed in my pants. Do I change my pants after the coffee or before the coffee?"

. . . . . .

They sat on chairs facing each other. There was a makeshift table between them. The air hostess bent down next to Sumanth "Would you like another one Sir?"

"Yes please. Scotch"

She looked at MK "How about you Sir"

"Another JW please"

There was still 12 hours to go before they landed in Zurich. Atanu was sleeping in his chair next to MK. The good thing for him was they were traveling business class and Atanu could push his seat back in an almost horizontal position.

MK pulled the blanket from Atanu's chest over to his shoulders. He's suffered enough for a day...

Neha was fast asleep on the seat next to Sumanth. Her head rested on Sumanth's shoulder with his arm around her. She was still terrified and shivering when they had boarded the plane. It took five rounds of cognac to calm her down and push her into sleep.

"Thanks Sumee... I would never forgive myself had something happened to her"

"Don't mention it. Atanu and I would have felt the same. It's over and we all came out alive"

MK felt a tear trickle down his left eye.

"What did I get you all into... our boring, pathetic lives at least kept us safe and blanketed from all this..."

"Manu, you helped us get out of the crevices we were stuck in. You helped us open ourselves up to freedom from all the chains that we were trapped in"

Sumanth took a small glass bottle from the pocket of his jacket and placed it on the table.

"What's this?"

"This Manu contained poison that I was about to consume and kill myself with. I was about to open the cap of this bottle when you called me up... you Manu, are the reason why I'm still sitting here on this flight flying towards a new life. So don't ever ever ever mention it again that you would not have done this job if given another chance."

MK sat dumbfounded. He remembered Sumanth's words when he had first called him in Madras Whatever you have in mind, I'll do it... I'm not coming back to Madras

"I... I... don't know what to say... I didn't know you were in so much pain. Why didn't you call me... you idiot."

"Because it was all meant to happen this way... the journey was to take this route planned by our destiny."

MK leaned forward and clasped Sumanth's hand. For the first time, since MK found about the incidents that took place in Bobby Banerjee's hotel room, did he feel glad that he had formed the MBA Gang to execute J's plan.

. . . . . .

"Good Evening... Sir... Madam... How may I help you?"

"We would like to make a withdrawal."

The floor manager looked at the three large suitcases MK and Neha had next to them.

"And I believe this will be an extremely large withdrawal?"

"Yes, it is."

"Please follow me to the second floor Sir. Our private rooms give you complete privacy to get your money in a completely secure and safe environment."

MK and Neha followed the floor manager to the second floor. The second floor had an array of small rooms on the left while on the right were Bdamas's employees working behind a bullet proof glass. This was a floor for their clients who came to make withdrawals which would need more than a pocket, a suitcase or even a truck to fill the cash in.

"Please make yourself comfortable," the floor manager seated Neha and MK in a room

"Thank you."

"Our officer will join you in a few moments. Can I get you something M'am... Sir?"

"Chardonnay for me please," Neha still needed some wine to calm herself. She felt much better than when she had left Delhi.

"I'll have green tea please"

The floor manager left to get their order while Neha and MK waited in the room. They were sitting on a soft cushiony loveseat. There was a desk in front of them with a computer monitor facing away towards an empty chair.

"So how was London?"

"Oh damn good... business was good, but I may have to go back next month again."

"Oh Why?"

"The Arkansaw office needs to be moved to a bigger better place... the staff's growing and we are running short of space..."

They will be watching you. At any given time there will be about 9 cameras watching you from different angles. Rehearse your dialogues. Recite them well. Act well. The guys in security will be watching your every movement, listening to your every word. Keeping quiet will make them suspicious. Talking too much will make them suspicious. Fidgeting hands or shuffling feet will get their attention. They will be looking at your eyes. Don't laugh for no reason. Don't forget to laugh if given a reason. These guys are some of the best in the world. They won't miss seeing that a strand of your hair has moved one sixteenth of an inch...

MK watched her face closely as he told the account officer the amount he wished to withdraw.

There was no emotion on her face as she punched the numbers on her keyboard. She was used to such large amounts being withdrawn. Her 18 years of service had taught her to simply stick to the job, punch in the number, check what clauses needed to be paid attention to, execute the requirements, get the cash and pass it on to the client.

She passed MK and Neha's passports back to them.

Confirm ID? Check.

"There is a clause on your account that you cannot withdraw the cash unless you are Mr. Manohar or you have your password."

Neha was tightly gripping MK's left thigh. She was doing her best to keep her sanity.

"We will use the password please."

MK took the keypad and placed it in front of him. He reached for his breast pocket and took out a folder piece of paper. It was faded and torn at the edges.

MK and Neha began praying at the same time as MK punched in the password numbers from the paper into the keypad.

Punching in 27 numbers seemed like an eternity. The room was silent, except for the occasional footsteps in the hallway.

MK passed the keypad back to the officer. Neha watched the officer's hand move from her desk, rise up in the air and start the descent towards the -Enter- key.

Please God Please. Let the password be right. Sumanth I hope you got the right paper from Dhanpur... Hell I'll kill you if you brought the electric meter number instead of the password...Ram Ram Ram Ram... A bead of sweat slipped down Neha's temple.

"Your password's been confirmed"

THANK YOU GOD!!! Thank you Sumanth... you got the right password.

"There is a second clause which requires that I have to call one of the owners of this account, one who is not present in the bank, to confirm the withdrawal"

"Yes. Please do."

The officer moved to the phone on the desk to dial India.

MK was relaxed. This one was easy. He had been more worried about the password.

Sumanth had been sent to Dhanpur to get two documents. One was a document from the bank that mentioned the password to the account in order to withdraw any cash more than one million dollars, and the other was to get the clause document which listed all the locks the politicians had put on their account in order to keep the money secure. Though the MBA Gang had in hand most of the information mentioned in the clause contract, Atanu had insisted that they look for a recent copy if any. To MK's relief there were no new requirements from the ones he was aware of.

. . . . . .

DK Singh from MTNL, Delhi had been given a list of four telephone numbers that he was to mess with. He fired up his administration panel and keyed in the first number. He clicked the "Forward to" symbol which popped a text box. He keyed in the number circled on his sheet.

48 hours ago DK had received the envelopes. One contained the list. The other contained a thick wad of cash. His instructions were to wait for the call before making the changes. And after the second call to reset the changes back to what they were.

DK Singh had lost count of the number of times he had messed with the MTNL numbers for cash. He stayed away from wire tapping requests as he found it to risky. Ramprasad and Sharma on the eighth floor may do it, but I won't. Not worth it.

DK entered in his screen the rest of the three numbers, one after another.

The call came in "DK, Change the numbers now"

DK moved to his mouse over the "Activate Forwarding now".

"It's done Sirjee"

"Good. I'll call you back in an hour"

. . . . . .

Sumanth and Atanu were sipping coffee at the Bistro right across the street from Bank Bdamas. Sumanth's cellphone started ringing.

"Mr. Modi?"

"Yes, this is Modi"

"Good evening Sir. This is Lewn Heidi from Bank Bdamas, Zurich."

"Yes Ms. Heidi?"

"Your customer access number is 4358345601"

"Confirmed. My account number is ..." Sumanth confirmed the 3Ms account number.

Both client and the bank had established each other's identity.

"Mr. Modi there is a request from the joint owners of your account Mr. Manu Joshi and Ms. Neha Gupta. The request is for a withdrawal of 5, 6, 0 million, U, S, D, dollars. The password for cash withdrawal has matched. This call is to confirm the final requirement as stated in clause 22AB of your account."

The golden question...

"Do you approve of the withdrawal Sir?"

MK and Neha were holding each others hands.Almost almost almost almost THERE....

Atanu had hot burning coffee in his mouth. He was not going to gulp it down till he heard "THE" words coming out of Sumanth.

Sumanth looked at Atanu, and smiled....

"Yes, I approve"

The coffee was let loose from Atanu's mouth down his throat.

He raised his hand and made the "V" sign.

"Thank you Sir. Have a good day"

The account officer put the phone down and looked at MK and Neha.

"Mr. Modi approved the transaction. Please follow me to the secure zone where you can fill in your suitcases with the cash"

Neha was ecstatic. She wanted to kiss anyone and everyone she could come across. MK wanted to jump across the table and kiss the female Accounting officer. Mercifully both of them maintained their composure.

Across the street Atanu was not ready to release Sumanth from his tight loving hug. All emotions and feelings and anxiety and panic that Sumanth held close fisted for days within him, now just melted away from his grip. He hugged Atanu back and looked at the bank across the street. For a moment he paused to look hard, he couldn't see clearly. It is then he realized he had tears of joy filling up his eyes.

Neha Gupta, MK Joshi, Atanu Datta and Sumanth Reddy had just become multi millionaires.

. . . . . .

Zurich Airport. Eight hours later.

The Gang sat at the bar. It was light beers for all of them. Atanu was paying.

After walking out of Bdamas with the three suitcases. The Gang had split the money and walked into 4 banks 2 to 4 blocks away. New accounts were opened under their new identities. The money from Bdamas was split into these four banks. Next MK and Sumanth walked into another bank, opened an account and pulled a part of the money from each of their 4 opened accounts into the 5th bank. Atanu and Neha did the same at a 6th bank.

In about 4 hours 560 million dollars had been split into more than a dozen banks, transferred to accounts in other parts of Europe, Hongkong, Cayman Islands, New Zealand, Hawaii and Australia. The money at each of their new destinations was again split into multiple banks and different accounts.

10 million of the amount landed at Osawa's account in a Swiss bank.

An amount of 100 million dollars was transferred to an account again in a Swiss bank.

The MBA Gang now had 450 million dollars, completely untraceable.

"I didn't know man I still wasn't sure. That phone call just did it for me." said Atanu, referring to the phone call to Sumanth.

"I wasn't sure until I walked out of the bank"

"Really Neha... I thought I saw you grinning when the officer confirmed the call"

"Bullshit, I mean I was happy but there was that slight doubt. You know its never finished until..."

"Until its finished."

"Thank you Sumanth. See MK. Two weeks ago we were living bored, pathetic lives and now see where we are"

MK smiled. Sumanth looked at MK. He sensed that MK was thinking of something. He caught MK looking at his phone a couple of times and then checking the time.

Atanu's flight would be leaving first. For the next three months he would be zipping from place to place, till he reached his final destination. Neha would leave next. Same plan but different places, Sumanth's flight would leave after Neha's and MK would leave the last.

"Something bothering you?" Sumanth asked MK

MK smiled "Is there anything you don't notice.." he looked up from the open restaurant inside the airport to check the crowd rushing left and right. He was looking for someone.

He found that someone in the crowd.

MK got up from his chair.

"Guys, I have a surprise"

Atanu and Neha were laughing over a joke as they looked up to MK. Sumanth had his hands folded.

"I'll be back in just a second, so don't move, I'll be back in a sec."

MK rushed out and disappeared into the crowd.

Neha was the first "What's the surprise?"

"Beats me. He didn't tell me."

"You know I think the surprise is there's a new project for the MBA Gang," Atanu winked at Sumanth before emptying his beer.

"Hell No!!! No more man. One is enough for me," Neha laughed as she said that. It had been quite an adventure.

MK walked back to the table. He clapped once to get their attention.

"Ok Guys. This project would not have started ever without this person. This plan would never have been successful without this person. We are multi millionaires because of this person."

Neha excitement overtook her calmness "I know I know. J's here and you want us to meet him!!!"

MK smiled "Yes"

"Damn MK!!! I want to meet J and touch his feet. He is my God. Where is he?" Atanu's eyes were wide open excitement.

MK stepped aside. J was standing right behind him.

J stepped forward "Hello Guys, or should I call you the honorable members of the MBA Gang"

Sumanth's folded hands dropped by his side, his chin went lower, his jaw dropped.

Neha's hand holding the beer stuck in mid air. She had just received another shocker.

Atanu's just gulped beer was seeping out of the corner of his mouth. He had a loud hiccup.

MK was smiling.

The Gang members sitting on the table were silent, looking up at a smiling J.

Silence.

More Silence.

J knew why they were shocked "Well... I believe you are happy to meet me."

Silence.

Atanu was the first to speak.

"MK.... You..you... you... never told us that.. J was a... a... a... woman"

Neha went next with a shocked expression ".... and that she's your mother..."

Interesting - very Ocean's Twelve/Thirteen/Fourteen - the J bit didn't work for me - too anti-climactic, but the adventures of Sumanth, Neha, Atanu, etc. must not stop:)
