Seven Blasts Rock Bangalore
Deepti Lamba
At least seven blasts rocked Bangalore. Nayandahalli, Madiwala, Adugodi, Koramangala, Mysore Road and Hosur Road suffered bomb attacks in a span of 15 to 30 minutes which were triggered by timers. As of now one woman is reported dead and twenty injured. All these are very crowded areas of Bangalore city. Madiwala and Adugodi are part of the Hosur Road which leads straight to Electronic City.
The bombs are said to be of low intensity, possibly induced by gelatin sticks, ammonium nitrate, and urea. As of now, all the malls and restaurants, schools around the area have been shut down. An emergency cabinet meeting has been called for the evening.
People are advised to stay off the phone networks if possible as they are already intentionally jammed. The injured have been admitted to St. John's Hospital and Mallya Hospital.
The Police has requested people not to get panicky but people around these area are stranded especially in Koramangala and Electronic City. The blasts began between one thirty and one forty five in the afternoon.
The areas have been cordoned off but Bangalore has not come to a standstill.

The number of blasts reached to 9 finally. Already IB suspected laskar and simi. And tomorrow or day after tomorrow our home minister visit bangalore, after that sonia will visit. Govt suspects pakistan hand in this.
After two days news papers and Tv channels says... "bangalore won, even after the heinous attack, we indians still united and gave a messages to the terrorists that they can't do anything to our unity or something". May be some "hindutva" parties and groups blame Muslims for this and demand POTA like laws. After that ... as usually everyone forget this.
Why to bother this much, we can do the great act of forgetting the incidents right now.Tension nahin lene kaa. It proved beyond doubt that we can't do anything. These type of attacks will continue. Better we all prepare for the psychologically.

@Deepti
They are not cowards. They went for training by crossing the borders. They came back( these two are not easy, they risked their life). They haven't caught by police or intelligence. Finally they did what they want to.
we, don't have guts to take proper action. No need to blame any religion for this. we need to deal with terrorists not with religions. terrorists and their supporters need to be punished irrespective religions. But our govt have that guts?

Hope all here with family/friends in Bangalore are safe.
Unfortunately this was expected. It isn't much of a surprise. And yes some questions will need to be answered eventually.
Ravi: Back in the 1980s when the IRA tried to assassinate the queen and failed, they issued a statement that reflects a great deal of truth when it comes to dealing with this sort of violence. They said (to the queen, and terribly politely): "Ma'am you have to be lucky all the time, we have to be lucky only once."
Unfortunately, this stuff only makes the news when things go terribly wrong and then we blame "security lapses." No one even gets to know about the other 99% of the time.
Having said that, I think citizen education and awareness would go a long way in stopping and preventing (and reporting) this kind of violence.
The "we stand united" is a good start. Now we will have to take the next step and start keeping an eye out for things around us.

""temp... just the desis? ;)""
SS, "desis" as an open-ended concept for anyone who physically happens to be in desiland or outside but knows someone who is currently in desiland, whether he or she happens to be a desicritic or not.

oofho!
i meant "desicritics" and their families
but will also add here that i did not mean to exclude the general citizenry as the words might imply
i do mean all citizens be spared the wrath of the terrorists in banglore
and everywhere
digression:
the number 7 has some kind of numerological significance for the terrorists
uk 7/7 with 700 injured, seven blasts in karachi early in july, this one...

"we need to deal with terrorists not with religions." great politically correct statement.
And what to do with the inspiration/ideology behind terror? Otherwise how come 45 highly educated doctors can netowrk for jehad. they are well to do economically, highly educated and professionally trained to save life of people(medical).

Look at SIMI arrests. many of them computer experts. educated and well to do.
That means its is not poverty, its not illetracy then what's inspiring factor for these people to kill inncent people.
Let's look at teh root of the evil. Catching and hanging few terrorists will never end the problem. If inspiring factor is not destroyed new breed of terrorists will be contiously produced.
Therefore we have to deal with inspring factor behind terror and not merely puppet terrorists.
Unfortunately to prove ourselves secular we try to close our eyes from roots of the evil.

I hope everyone is safe in Bangalore. My immediate family is safe, I just found out.
Dear Man Singh,
When you say "If inspiring factor is not destroyed new breed of terrorists will be contiously produced.", what are you talking about? Is it the Qoran or the Madrassas? How do you go about destroying the "inspiring factor"?

I doubt real Islamic terrorists would have planned such low intensity blasts. Might be the work of others who wanted to create a scare but not too much of casualties. Only time will tell.

It is a cowardly act because they go after the soft targets- civilians.
Even a regular goonda can create mayhem. Don't give them any stature. They are a-holes.
