SAK

You are so ill-informed. Before getting into any debate, please read history by honorable historians like Romila Thapar. Do not get distracted by any other views, they are all lies. Hindus were a wretched lot who were emancipated by the great Mughals and Turks whom we owe everything that is great about India. They did not destroy a single temple, as a matter of fact they constructued mosques which were in short supply to facilitate prayers by the thousands of Indians who were eager to convert to Islam. Did you know that there was a waiting list to convert to Islam that was longer than the waiting list for a phone in India during 70s and 80s! And in order to really emancipate the downtrodden, the lower castes were given preference in converting to Islam. Sometimes, their conversion was made easier by making it appear that they were force fed beef / meat - this was just a ploy so that the upper caste Indians could not target the lower caste Indians for the conversion. What nobility. The other way of spreading 'love' was to impregnate eagerly waiting Indian women so as the create a new generation of devout, peaceful, and caring people following the message of peace.

Did you know that the vedas were originally written by Persians? And Sanskrit as a language evolved in the glorious land of Turks and the Mongols - the world has been unfair to them in calling them barbarians. They were the torch bearers of civilization! And after the advent of Islam, the message of peace and love was spread across Asia by the loving and caring, democratic, secular kings like Babar. The message of love and peace continues to be spread in far off countries across 5 continents today by the True Believers of Islam. We owe all scientific, social and political progress to Islam's message.

You are being very very ill informed about demolition of temples etc. If you do not have time to read Romila Thapar's history at least watch the educational programs on Indian TV by Burqa Dumb or Raja of Sarcasm or Arbit Goswami (owner of cows!). That is the truth and the only truth!

Good luck!

In all this mess one must remember how Islam spread into India. The TV channel wallahs ask "how far will you go back" but at the same breath they ask for those who demolished the supposed mosque to be punished. That's double standards. Demolishing a mosque is considered crime but demolishing a Hindu temple is not considered crime. What double standards! There will be no compromise and Pakistan will keep sending terrorists to attack the Hindu temple in Ayodhya to disturb the peace. Those of you who speak of injustice at the demolition of the mosque I ask them what about the temples destroyed in Kashmir. What about the temples destroyed in Pakistan. Shouldn't these demolition men be punished too? Why doesn't justice happen there. There are no sting operations regarding these. Only against Hindus sadhus and babas. Justice comes into force only when minorities are threatened but keeps mum over injustices to the majority. And why is the same active media silent over the issue of demolition of temples? This is clearly double standards. Isn't it. They divide, inflamed passions make people act and that's a sensation, just like the media wanted, just what the media has been waiting for. Oh.. get past it folks, we are living in an age where our minds are influenced by the powerful politicians and the media which benefit by instigating us.

Rare and major defeat for leftists and so called fanatic liberals:

One of the rare occasions when you see these loose cannons being cornered and it is amusing to see their desperate attempts at stirring trouble and violence even as common people refuse to get dragged into the historical mess.

Liberal and socialist fanatics are exposed today.

When the matter is decided in courts, one can not keep on shifting the goal post.

<a href="http://www.indianexpress.com/news/a-time-to-let-history-go/691695/1>http://www.indianexpress.com/news/a-time-to-let-history-go/691695/1</a>

Tavleen Singh:

"As someone who always finds myself in direct conflict with Lefties and their fanatical fellow travellers, it pleases me that they appear this time to be on the wrong side of history.

All this talk of nationalism and putting India first has thrown them into confusion. If things carry on this way, they could find themselves out of business since it is only in situations of chaos and violence that their defeated political ideas find space."

it is still beyond deplorable that in this day and age, political calculations contributed to the destruction of a government "protected monument" in "modern times" when we have written laws, and a modern state that is supposed to enforce the laws - a situation that cannot and should not be compared to the medieval era.
Lomi,

1/3rd or 1/2 land at the site for construction of Mosque is much better than continuing religious polarization, fanaticism, blood bath and eventual conversion of whole Ayodhya into a "Hindu Mekka".

No one has any doubts about the faith that Ram was born in one location or other at Ayodhya. Be happy that fanatics are not yet demanding a "Hindu Mekka" there.

If law of the land and court verdicts are not followed, then no other law stands.

Go and have tug of war.

We will have fun watching.

Lomi,

If the parties concerned had a problem with Indian Judiciary, then why did not they say that earlier?

They could have not refused to use Judiciary's services and would have sat on the streets claiming that a solution by courts is not acceptable at any cost.

Why are they cribbing once the verdict is out?

The ASI report was submitted in 2003 to Judges and it was an open document. The litigants could have moved out of the court and claimed that "any legal solution" is not acceptable.

They did not do that because they wanted show themselves at a higher moral ground.

Now, accept the verdict or silently go to Supreme Court.

Who says, this conflict was not there in last 350 years?

The Chronology of events say:
=============================

1853: First recorded incidents of religious violence at the site.

(This is recorded battle and there may have been many unrecorded battles earlier as well).

1859: British colonial administration erects a fence to separate the places of worship, allowing the inner court to be used by Muslims and the outer court by Hindus.
-------

This dispute was at least 150 years old and at most 400 years old.

The communities did not bury this dispute.

Religious fanaticism by both sides has to end. BJP paid a heavy price in politics for its communal agenda.

By being uncompromising and aimed towards further blood bath on this Ayodhya issue, people like you are only helping the Hindu Fanatics and alienating moderate Hindus.

If 100 people like you stand up and start throwing stones, BJP will again come to power.

May be you do not mind BJP coming back to power and then taking the war to Mathura, Kasi and Varanasi, where they "may" have even more moral authority and evidences.

------
All communal riots in India were religious wars. Both sides were equally responsible for the same.

So, work to end these wars with a give and take approach.

Have some common sense. Escalating this situation will not help Muslims, now that political parties are polarised across religious lines.
------

Your choice:

Stop wars with give and take approach OR continue and pay a price even as millions of Muslims remain poor and uneducated, with not being able to access the benefits of progress.

============
If you trust judiciary, trust it completely. Otherwise, do not trust it at all.
============

There is no point in being in the middle.

Where were you before the judgment? Did you write an article in Desicritics saying, whatever is the judgment it is not acceptable?

"Muslims are hurt", "Islam is in danger" are all these are old slogans. They have no value today anywhere in the world.

No one can hurt anyone unless one allows them to.

The world has changed.

Iomi

I think you are stepping out of line here. You are branding everyone - from judges to lawyers to even ordinary people - on religious lines. That's just not acceptable.

I personally don't agree with the verdict but for entirely different reasons. But I haven't branded the judges "religious fanatics". That's deplorable.

I would urge you to resist from making such insane accusations and get on with it. The case will go to supreme court and it will take decades for the verdict to come out. Till then, nothing's gonna change there. So hold your horses and please avoid your insane religious rants here. It's not at all appreciated. Period!

I hope you show some maturity and not carry on with your rants. But if you choose to do so, let me assure you that I will choose to ignore you henceforth and I hope many other readers do.

I wud like the judgement to be of this sort considerin all parties involved and more importantly all circumstance involved tat lead to this situation. I hope like hindu lawyer Ravi Parasad says let hindu and muslims jointly let this be settled like this:

1) Let the disputed area be disputed area. Closed and shut down permamnently. Let the masjid which was destroyed infront of our eyes in 1992 in live cameras and temple which was destroyed (or not is highly debatable but lets hope ASI ppl were true patriots not hindu fanatics) be remain as its. With rubble all around wit caption as no tresspasin allowed fr either segment or any segment.

2) let teh remaing land be divided equally between hindus and muslims. There is 67 acres of land tat govt has possession. in half the area, u can easily build a temple or masjid over it.

By doing this it easily solves the problem. The muslim knows he didnt get his majid back. Hindus also didnt get their ram's precise birth place back. But neither has tht hurt of either a temple or masjid being built over their ancestral temple or masjid site. Which at present situation is very much true. By doing this u send a very strong msg of peace to both segments tat it is very imp not to hurt anyone than give someone unwanted joy.

The whole grievance here is not abt ram temple being built. No muslim is objecting to it. U have a such a big city to build temples and flourish ur religion. By saying no u wont build it anywhere byt right over the masjid which stood fr not 1 or 2 yrs but fr full 400 yrs is too much of strong statement. And to top it all u want muslims to help u do tat. Its like askin us to dig our own graveyard. How much hurt will this bring to muslims. Why cant u build the temple atleast few feet away frm masjid area. By repeatin over and over, we will build over masjid, its difficult to understand the judge's religious fanaticism. He says based on ASI report, wat report? how did u conclude?. Nothing is given of tat sort.

This is precisely teh reason why i say its saddest day in indian democracy and indian judicial system. The India of 2010 is lot worse than India of 1992. We hav no choice but to goto supreme court but fr first time I feel my country has let me down.

I dont like to provoke or insult anyone or any religion watsoever. My only intention or rather the cry is the injustice done in our country. I have nothing against hinduism. I have great respect fr hindu religion in all its right. The problem I have is neither with the religion or with the hindus but with cretain segments of the hindu faith who fabricate falsehood and fight fr it over and over again. Seriously to say Ram was born exactly right beneath teh central dome of the masjid is very very amateurish to say teh least. Even if its true (which I highly doubt inspite of ASI's attestation) then how can u dig up cases 400 years old? And by demolishing masjid and building a temple over it is how you want to solve the problem. Well fr wrong which happened or not is highly debatable, u r replacing it with a wrong which is happenin right before our eyes and I am very disappointed to say not even one hindu has spoken abt it. this why I say shame on u guys. Are u so sure ram was born there right beneath the central dome of the masjid. Iam sorry Whether temple was demolished and mosque was built is too old to discuss now. We cant waste time over it and where are the culprits if it is true to run this case. Judges by answering this stupid question proved themselves to be a mere religious zealots. Do u think they cud have really found answer to tht question to pinpoint accuracy.

Do u really think any emperor (let alone Babar) cud have just got along wit demolishin the grand temple and runa country not only by himself but also fr so many of his generations to come with so much ease. If u read Babrnama (babrs diary to his son humayun) he talks abt tolearnace to a level of not commiting the slaughtering of cows in India. Imagine if he was such a cruel king why did he do it. Also Akbar comes in interim period (of this 350 yrs argument which u easily squash, we were just sleeping). Akbar was supposedly the kindest of kings not acc to muslims but acc to hindus of india. Do u think akbar wud have not listened to this grievance and solved it at once. There is not even a mention of tis one bit in history. Ok lets forget all mughal kings. Even in british period which is were this controversy started. It didnt start at a period when British were governing at full swing. Its only when British were finding governance very difficult at start of first war of indian independence tat this whole issue breaks up. This begs a question as to whether the motive was hindu-muslim divide or ram temple. U ppl decide. This is a simple issue which is being blown too much out of proportion to say the least.

My apologies to you if you took it that way. the comment was simply about folks who want to keep the pot boiling and not moving on. the issue is obviously an emotive one and it's hard to move on - if only people would get worked up enough, angry enough to ensure that everyone has a toilet such that turds on the streets would be eliminated.OK, I;m going off on a tangent now....so will cease and desist.
