Ravi: Back in the 1980s when the IRA tried to assassinate the queen and failed, they issued a statement that reflects a great deal of truth when it comes to dealing with this sort of violence. They said (to the queen, and terribly politely): "Ma'am you have to be lucky all the time, we have to be lucky only once." Unfortunately, this stuff only makes the news when things go terribly wrong and then we blame "security lapses." No one even gets to know about the other 99% of the time. Having said that, I think citizen education and awareness would go a long way in stopping and preventing (and reporting) this kind of violence. The "we stand united" is a good start.
