any fans of jim corbett will enjoy Martin Booth's _Carpet Sahib: A Life of Jim Corbett_ (1990? Oxford U Press).

In addition to all his shikar stories, I really love Corbett's _My India_. Too bad he moved on to Kenya in the twilight of his life.

Thanks for the comments, Commensense and Deepti. Yes, somehow sixty years makes a big difference in a lot of things, including other elderly creatures spotted by their heritage. Harold

I enjoyed reading Dianne Sharma's articles and seeing two places I had been with her eyes. HB

Harold, my dad once told me that when they were staying at our ancestral village just above Ona after the partition, the village and nearby areas had been terrorized by a 'Bagh'.

His aunt used to make him and his elder brother sleep on her sides so she wouldn't be the one to be taken.

The village still stands but the Baghs are no where to be seen.
