agree

some flightts are unavoidable (as are some trips by car)

but we can still do things to improve the climate

I try and follow 1,3,4. I have a good cycle, and pretty much cycle around for distances < 5km, including office.
I make it a point to switch off lights when not needed, and do not waste water.
I would also love to plant some trees.

Avoiding plastic is tough, as they don't allow you to carry your own cloth/paper bags in the retail stores, and pack everything in 3-4 plastic bags. I think it's high time the big retail stores provided paper bags/allowed customers to carry their own bags inside.

(*I don't have the time to haggle with road-side shop wallas everyday*)

Avoiding flights is very difficult, especially for long distances, like Bangalore-Delhi. I mean, when I only get a week off for vacations, why should I waste 36 f**king hours in the train?! Anyone would rather fly!

Love and peace to all,
Ayan

Congratulations on your efforts. I treat Earth Day like Mother's Day; I do something a little different, usually but I try to treat both with the upmost respect and care and love so every day is Mother's / Earth Day.

You find it's often those who do least the rest of the year who make the biggest of such holidays - and think the rest of us have to treat it with the upmost importance.

There are those, too, who are trying to educate the masses and take such days as spotlights to further that education, so their enthusiasm and energy is differently directed. It's a capitalized D Day, so it's important.
