The license fee in the UK is a scam. Paying £ 150 (Rs 12000 a year) for watching almost NOTHING (May be Rugby)is not at all value for money. Individuals should have the right to decide whether they would like to subsidise Public service TV as I think subsidising the BBC is an absolute waste.</description>

I would say this is following the demand and supply rule. Since there is too much demand, the price goes up. The price being the screen space/time used by the advertisers.</description>
