I can understand sandeep's inability to connect with L subramniam in an evening with Hariprasad chaurasia. It is like dancing the salsa in the midst of a deep meditation. Balamurali has the voice range to bridge the gap between meditation and vocal acrobatics. But, LS's music is more acrobatics, brilliant at that, than meditative.

Sandeep,
Your bias is sad. I agree with you that the trigalbandhi as such was disappointing - but you seem to be the only person in the world who disputes Dr. Subramaniam's genius. If you were really at the concert, you would have seen that the response he got from the audience for his set was more than the other three sets combined.
If you don't know anything about music - stay away.

"I'm inherently biased against L. Subramaniam's music (...)"

I most say I agree with THAT. It is as well a matter of perspective and of from which background your ears were trained but you missed the point when talking about L. Subramaniam's performance, in my opinion.

All of the musicians were seriously damaged by the poor acoustic of the sports gymnasium (I can't think of a worst place for a concert) and by the apparent lack of synchronism and harmony of all of them together (not only the "legends"), particularly in the end. That weighted downwards specially the violin, perhaps the only instrument standing out.

And yes, perhaps the duet with his son was not the best idea but I still think his individual performance was one of the few high points of the night, if there must be one.
