<description>Is it necessarily a bad thing? This may be a drastic comparison but I&#039;m rather reminded of the fact that the ancient Romans watched prisoners get eaten alive by wild animals, as a sport.

Then again, I remember visiting the circus as a kid. That kind of &#039;live&#039; entertainment is unparalleled by television, cinema and the information age. 

On a related note, the magician act seems to be rapidly dying out as well. But perhaps today&#039;s kids have more sophisticated tastes as well?</description>
