Its bloody 6 am in the morning here and now thanks to your post BD I am ravenously hungry!:)

.... while me mum is a pretty awesome cook as well, she ain't here to whip up something that looks as delicious as the stuff you have in your pictures.:(

But as someone who absolutely loves to cook, my big shout out to your mum. She sounds like a remarkable woman.

And may I also add: how very big hearted of you to put up such a lovely post about her (and on V'Day too!).

bd, damn it not fair!! I'm missing my mom's food sooo much now. And I agree with Meenakshi, its a lovely Valentine article for your parents.

Kim sent me poem mail a few days back:

A Woman's Poem
He didn't like the casserole
And he didn't like my cake,
He said my biscuits were too hard
Not like his mother used to make.

I didn't perk the coffee right
He didn't like the stew,
I didn't mend his socks
The way his mother used to do.

I pondered for an answer
I was looking for a clue.
Then I turned around and
smacked the #$@! out of him...
Like his mother used to do.

Tanay, thanks for the comment.

and yes, whenever i get homesick, I just fire up the slideshow and go lick the screen! lol

and yes, that preparation sounds familiar to me, that dish can be made with any fish head, I am more familiar with the rohu and katla head preps! :)

bd sir, thanks for sharing this post. first and foremost, you need to be proud of your maa. also why don't you invite her to DC and ask her to make posts. am sure those are going to have a wide audience as it would cover food, culture, teaching and music.

now i envy you. you better know why ? of course, i had a virtual e-diet (through my popping eyes near my screen) to the satisfy myself

did you have tiger prawns even, and also i like one preparation, they use the head of the fish, its all cleaned and mashed and cooked with vegetables are used, we call it 'chincada'. very popular with people from the eastern part of india.

also bd there are few traits, that my maa shares with your maa, when it comes to music, dance and teaching. will share this post with my maa for sure.
