Barack Obama - The 'Short Change' Candidate

February 03, 2008
Chandra

Barack Obama has seen a spike in support over the last week, strongly positioning him to be the Democrat nominee for Nov 2008. His messages of unity, togetherness and change have attracted a whole host of voters across the spectrum. His speeches have been compared with no less than MLK Jr and Kennedy. Any questions on experience have been dismissed as typical ‘Washington’ tactics or 'racist'.

With Super Tuesday scheduled two days from now, I am listing information that many of his supporters should know before they go out to vote. Here we go

1. When a leading supporter of Obama laid off more than 1600 employees in Illinois, Obama made only half hearted attempts to prevent the layoffs. So much so that this prompted the Union supporting the workers to endorse Clinton.

2. Barack Obama’s response to a nuclear leak in Illinois was nothing more than a ‘scolding’ as he failed to pass a resolution tightening rules related to nuclear leaks. This nuclear leak was from a plant owned by Exelon. Coincidentally, executives and employees of Exelon have contributed more than $227,000 to Obama’s campaigns. Additionally, David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist for many years has worked as a consultant to Exelon.

3. Obama has shown an inability to take a strong stand on the issue of supporting the Coal industry in Illinois. He seems to suggest that his stand demonstrates his understanding of both sides of the story. However, this has helped neither

4. Obama like other politicians is inconsistent-

a. He supported decriminalisaton for marijuana possession and use, then opposed it and now supports it again.

b. He supported benefits for illegal aliens and now opposes it

c. On Cuba, he supported a move remove the embargo, now he is ambiguous

d. He supported a single payer universal healthcare plan but recently says he does not

e. Today he says he supports gun ownership but a decade ago he was a strong opponent of gun ownership

f. For more examples of his inconsistency, see the following links:

5. Everybody is aware of Obama’s opposition to the Iraq war. However, how many of you are aware of Nadhmi Auchi? Auchi had major links with the Saddam regime before the Government was overthrown by the US? Auchi’s wife was the director of a company that lent money to Obama’s fundraiser in May 2005. Incidentally, Auchi wired about $3.5 M to Obama’s close friend, Tony Rezko

His relationship with Rev Jeremiah Wright and Tony Rezko are well known. I do not want to discuss those here

To summarize:

a. Obama is as much a liar as other Washington politicians
b. Obama will say things that his audience likes to hear
c. Obama has shown poor judgement through his relationship with various individuals
d. Obama has shown no independence in thought though he claims to be a uniter in all his speeches
e. Obama has not demonstrated an ability to deal with Contentious issues in the senate and therefore failed in passing any legislation of use

The question is

Is he the Change candidate or the ‘Shortchange candidate? You decide.

chandra:

courtesy SAJA i just read this:

Obama for President By The Editors of Little India the largest circulated indian paper in the usa:

Little India has decided to break from its tradition of staying out of the primary selections by endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic Party nomination for president. We take this unusual step as we have come to share his inspiring message and his call for the "fierce urgency of now."
There is something magical and transcendental in this moment about Sen. Barack Obama both for the country and the Indian American community.

Your analyse is not objective. Obama is the future president of united state. You can pointed out your own misunterpretation of what he said or did, it's your personal view. You will see that America wants the change and Will change all those cynics things that you are saying. Well it's sure that Barack is not perfect, as a human, but he's got the will to overcome all the disasters of our society now and he is supported not only in the united states but all around the world. Thanks for your post.

Just for balance' sake, you should do a counterpoint on Hillary, or any of the Republican candidates:)

The only way a post or news story like this could be useful is if it included side by side comparisons of every candidate, from Obama to Hillary to Huckabee to McCain. Since you didn't, and since you are a European marketing consultant, my best guess is that this is a paid piece. For the non-paid readers, the question you should be asking is not how much negative info can you find about one candidate or another, but how much positive.

This isn't a paid piece, but your point is valid, although writers are free to choose to pick on any candidate

There are enough positive pieces on Barack on the internet.In fact it is difficult to find a negative one across the Internet (12% versus 51% for Clinton). My post was to highlight the negatives. The negatives unfortunately are a STRONG contrast to the message of unity and change that the candidate professes. God bless the world if this dilettante is elected!!! George W will be a walk in the park.

I found your article interesting but when I saw as one of your sources the Washington Times, a well known fact challenged right wing newspaper owned by the Moonies, I realized this article is simply a hit piece.

You don't want people to get to know Barack, you want to obfuscate Barack.

Agree about your opinion about Wash times. However, there are two points here

a. Did you read the wash times article? Do you feel that some points are outright lies?

b. There are 4 other cases mentioned from other newspapers,including the wash post. Do you disagree with them?

I have a counter point.

Speak with the supporters of other candidates. Tell them that their candidate has flaws and they will agree. Say that to an Obama supporter and they dont agree at all. This is frightening! Obama supporters are so immature that many of them donot even intend to vote in Nov if he weren't the nominee. That is shocking!! Such attraction and support has to have some basis. If it is based on something that is not backed by past action, we are bound to have serious trouble..

it is not difficult to trace the reasons for the surge of such voters:)

READ HERE...plus:

* the economy
* body bags
* iraq
* afghanistan
* eroding civil rights (in the guise of homeland insucurity)

...and more

these builds up the new wave of voters disillusioned not only with neoconzix parties and politicians but also those perceived to be their sympathisers and supporters

also as the ROW knows, the difference between republican and democrat policies is cosmetic only...on the richter scale what difference does it make if you suffer under a 8.2 or 8.2;)

Every politician in a position to run for president of the US has issues. People recognize this. Does his public message contrast with his history any more strongly than that of any of the other candidates? No. Everyone has issues and everyone puts their best foot forward.

If your point is that Obama supporters don't recognize this, you're wrong. They are no more out of touch than Romney supporters, no more naive than Hillary fans, no more ignorant than McCain followers. There are just a lot of them, and that's catching people off guard.

You call Obama supporters immature for not being as interested in voting if their candidate isn't on the ballot. Yet you say nothing about the evangelicals only interested in Huckabee or the Mormons who will be absent if Romney doesn't make the cut. Why not?

If you're not being paid for putting out one sided articles, you need to do a better job understanding and representing the issues before publishing.

If indeed Obama's supporters recognise his flaws, how can he be the great unity/change candidate that he is made out to be?

Show me one post by Obama supporters that discusses his negatives?

On both of the above counts, Obama supporters fail the test.

I am not bothered about the other candidates because they are anyway being attacked by the media. Barack O is getting a free pass...

BTW, why dont you dispute the links that have been provided?

I can understand voter disaffection but let us not over state it. The biggest concern remains the economy and let us face it, none of the candidates have a clue as to how to get the US out of the mess. Both the GOP and the Dems have no plans to curtailing spend and unless that is done, the US economy will further spiral downwards....afterall, how much reserves of dollars do they expect Asian countries to hold?

In that regard...Barack O came up with a brilliant solution----> Another spending plan. :-).....the final spending plan was approved on Friday and stock markets have lost 10% since then..(in two weeks).....so much for leadership and ideas......

elections are won (or lost) over voter dissatisfaction

whoever exploits it to his or her disadvantage will will

the wars dubya and the neoconzix complex has landed the US is a bleeding ulcer that has caused the money drain...it has to be stopped and then only will the economy turn around...

in that obama's clear anti war stand has an edge over hilary's flip-flop

Yes, Obama is reaching out to voter dissatisfaction. However, I dont think this is to do with specific issues as much as to the manner in which politics is run in washington. Having said that, this is my 7th election and almost all candidates who won in the past claimed to wanting to change how washington worked. Nobody seems to have changed anything yet. A good example of how Obama will do is to review Deval Patrick's (non) performance in Mass.

Forecast for Feb 5th (Delegates tally)

BO-50.7
HC-49

(Excl Absentee ballots)

Nobody knows how many ABs have been posted in CA, the higher, the better for HC.

Of course, all polls could be wrong and one of them may just sweep the polls...Good for Dems.......this fraternal fight is dangerous for the party in the long run......
