Photo Essay: A Panorama of Lucknow

January 28, 2008
Dr Bhaskar Dasgupta

We went to lunch at Clark's Awadh, a great hotel in Lucknow (as it happens, one of my wedding receptions was held there!). The restaurant is called Falaknuma and the food was gorgeous. I did not take any photos of the food, but did manage to sneak some pictures of the surroundings.

he chattar manzil. One of the old palaces

The Gomti river bank.

The Dhobhi Ghat.

A longer view of the river.

The Lucknow Cricket Ground. And here.

The road to Hazratganj where you can go to do Ganjing.

A park with couple of tombs.

The Victoria Memorial or the Begum Hazrat Mahal Park (a separate photo-essay on this very ironic park!).

Thanks, Rezwan

one thing which I forgot to mention was that if you look down the left hand side of the gomti river, you will see "nothing". thank the brits for destroying the amazing palaces which lined the left bank of the gomti after 1857, and now its full of garbage (see previous garbage post).

Heard so much about it, but haven not been there yet, can't wait to see the Begum Hazrat Mahal Park essay. When is it coming?
