Dear Blo---in,
No disater mechanism will work. Nature does its work and that is the reason why animals which live with nature behave like that.
By the way nature never comes back to say sorry.
Learn to live with it as the people of Bhuj have done and every person like the Vanavasis and others who live with nature do
Regards,
vck.

As nature never gives us an intimation before sending in a storm, an earthquake or a wildfire,.....

Not so, madame. One needs to get in tune with the animals. Before an earthquake, animals, sensing vibrations coming through the earth that most humans have trouble sensing, act strange. The seek refuge from the area that will be in trouble.

Chroniclers of the gigantic New Madrid earthquake that struck the nigh empty middle of the United States in 1811-12 (and which still managed to kill 3,000 people) wrote of the strange behavior of farm animals, cats squirrels, birds, etc. in the hours before the first quake struck in December, 1811.

Israel is also an earthquake zone, and I'm always watching the cats, roosters, sheep and goats in Ma'ale Levona for signs of panic and strange behavior.

When we were living in the Bay Area, we felt upto 70 tremors a week, or so the newspapers reported. We actually felt only a couple or so. This seems to have been a big one.

Run!
