<description>An excellent review of Philip Fisher&#039;s criteria. Kudos to you and a great contribution to the blogosphere.

I have been investing for over 40 years and continue to struggle to find the right strategy in stock selection and managing those investments. I share my &#039;amateur&#039; experience on my blog, Stock Picks Bob&#039;s Advice (http://bobsadviceforstocks.tripod.com/bobsadviceforstocks)

Not wanting to diminish the significance of what Fisher has written, I have found it helpful to concentrate on fundamental information easily available on free sites like Yahoo or Morningstar. I am searching for the stock that can consistently grow its revenue, earnings, free cash flow, and possibly dividends, while maintaining a stable outstanding share count, and have a reasonable balance sheet with an excess of assets, particularly current assets, over liabilities, particularly current liabilities.

I have chosen to start with an examination of the top % gainers each day, and work from that list to identify potential candidates for purchase or inclusion in my blog.

Furthermore, I strongly believe in active management of trading accounts. For me that means the quick sale of stocks that decline, and the partial sale of stocks that meet appreciation targets. This bias contributes, hopefully, to my own success.

Thank you for writing up this useful information from Philip Fisher. I hope that you will take the time to visit my blog and examine how this amateur confronts the challenge and chaos of stock market investment.
