I am a 17 years old boy from burma, and also happens to be a christian. Everything said in this article is true. It's kind of a law that burmese and buddhists come first before other enthic groups and religions. If you don't agree to that, then you don't know shit about life in burma. I don't know what buddhists do in other country but what they do here is wrong. They look down of other religion like christianity and islam. Most of the rich buddhists donate money to monks and not to other poorer people including buddhists who are half straving. They also shout with loud speakers to annouce how much money they have given to monks and shit. And, they people compete with each others about giving more money. There are also monks reading bibles under the table because they can't quit being a monk. If this is the kind of religion buddhism is everywhere, i'd say it shouldn't exist.

We all must unite in one accord to sing a song
of liberty with the freedom loving people of
Mynamar as early as next week, as "Free Burma #7"
said OCTOBER 4, Thursday. If the people of
Europe got freedom from the mighty communism,
the people of Burma will be free soon. No military junta can stop the free spirit of every
human being, God will hear their cry.

Free Burma!
International Bloggers' Day for Burma on the 4th of October

International bloggers are preparing an action to support the peaceful revolution in Burma. We want to set a sign for freedom and show our sympathy for these people who are fighting their cruel regime without weapons. These Bloggers are planning to refrain from posting to their blogs on October 4 and just put up one Banner then, underlined with the words „Free Burma!".

A good attempt to bring the situation in Myanmar to the drawing rooms of Indians.

But what appals me is the author's tendency to view this from the Christian angle.. the angle of persecution of Christians and all.

People will do well to note that its not just Christians who are suffering in Myanmar. It is people of all religions, colours and creeds.... suffering from the socialist mandate of the government which rules Myanmar.

The author will do well to note that. We are all human beings irrespective of which religion we belong to. The authoritarian regime in Myanmar affects all human beings... irrespective of which religion they belong to.

The author makes us feel that Christians are singled out for persecution and that the majority community - the Buddhists - are being given a free ride.

One only has to see the people who are at the center of the current protests - 20000 BUDDHIST MONKS! And not 20000 Christian fathers! That simple fact conveys far more about the situation in Myanmar than the narrow religious prism within which this article seeks to present it.

Without the angle of Christians, this article would rate - 7/10

With the Christian angle, the rating drops awfully as the author's primary motives in writing this article come to light - 2/10

Madhu seems exclusively interested in conversion of Christians. Buddhism is the indigenous religion of the region. Is Madhu going to claim that Christianity came into the region without any conversion. Total rubbish -- Christ wasn't born in Burma, that's for sure.

We can then see the slant of DesiChristianCritics.com, which exclusively focuses on favouring particular religions at the expense of others. No thanks, Madhu -- I'm not interested in becoming a convert. Please do leave us to go live in the land of Bethlehem. Make sure you buy a one-way ticket.

I hope the CIA is backing the opposition in Burma; it is about time they do something useful.

Musharraf is a thug. Please get him out of there without putting one of the crazy islamofascists in his place.

How come Musharraf's assault on democracy is occurring at exactly the same time, but the international community's reaction is exactly the opposite?

Lawyers are being beaten in the streets, opposition members are being rounded up in broad daylight.

Uncle Sam is interested in Burma because it is strategically located next to rising powers China and India. When the dictators in charge aren't playing ball with the US, then there is an international campaign to have them overthrow. But when the dictator is helping the US in the "war on terror", then suddenly there is total silence while the guy cracks down.

Aung San Suu Kyi's connection with the CIA (thru our intelops like DIA officer Col. Robert Helvey) and the Karen insurgency is an open secret:

http://www.google.com/search?q=Aung+San+Suu+Kyi+Robert+Helvey

And is it a big suprise all this ties back to the American Enterprise Institute, the chief architect of the Iraq war:

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Albert_Einstein_Institution

"Helvey "was an officer of the Defence Intelligence Agency of the Pentagon, who had served in Vietnam and, subsequently, as the US Defence Attache in Yangon, Myanmar (1983 to 85), during which he clandestinely organised the Myanmarese students to work behind Aung San Suu Kyi and in collaboration with Bo Mya's Karen insurgent group"

Here's more background on Col Robert Helvey and CIA's agenda to employ non-violent warfare to destablize other countries (the organge/velvet revolutions being the most recent examples):
