Great and beautiful pictures. This is a mixture
of different personalities; serious and focused,
excited, relaxed, indifferent, jovial, and finally " you take my picture or not, I don't care". Keep up the good work.

Temple - all the photos are snipped out of larger photos. They are not planned portraits at all, they are just accidental glimpses of women's moods. It is difficult to explain to someone who is not Indian, what exactly I found in these photos :)

For example, that quiet stubborn face in Bangla Sahib. All Indians know girls like that. They are soft spoken, and will endure a lot of stuff, but sometimes will flash like fire suddenly. I saw it in the stubborn set of her chin, and in her eyes. I'm not sure everyone else sees it :)

the last two are true photos, composed and striking, with the last one being the best. I don't quite see what you see in these women's faces but that's to be expected. I do love seeing them, however.

The first photo did not load at all for me.

Thank you for your lens. Temple

Beautiful!!! Loved how you have captured smiles and candid expressions. You see models and filmstars with their gawdy makeup and they all look the same to me at times but there is something charming and unique about each woman when her smile is caught unawares amidst the daily bustle of life. My favorites: the no nonsense gal of Nizamuddin Auliya (the sun on her forehead is just perfection) and the transformation at Dili Haat (my what a transformation!) :)

You know Deepa, I've written about feminism through films and poetry reviews but a picture is worth a thousand words. These portraits have captured not just faces but spirits.

Bravo!
