ha ha bobkim, I thought your comment "who cares .. reality check - to go, please" was about my 9-11 memorial pictures for a little while until I went from my mail inbox to here. Funny.

Who cares, indeed. Way too many people. Vary occasionally I have to get trivial things like this off my chest because they're stuck in my head. You and all Desicritics are the innocent victims ;-)

and yes, amrita... I think paris and fiddy together is one of the horsemen of the apocalypse! LOL

I quote myself in #9 above, from before the VMAs:

<i>Honestly, have you seen her dance even at her most famous. It's by the numbers. You can see her remembering the moves as she moves, it does not come naturally.</I>

I watched it specifically for her, so I would know what I was talking about. If she would have rocked the house, I would have said so.

She did not.

The point I'm trying to make is, sure feel compassion, but don't encourage her career at this point, it doesn't exist. Go away now, find a talent, raise a couple of good kids and be a better person. We as Audience, should not listen to and watch utter self-destruction just because we feel sorry for her.

I posted a little bit about that <a href="http://blastyourpodcast.com/2007/09/britneys-magic-is-it-wrong-to-wish-for.html">here</A>:

The San Jose Mercury News had <a href="http://www.mercurynews.com/entertainment/ci_6852827">a great opinion piece</A>.

And the best headline, surprisingly, came from AOL.com, which had "It's Britney (Glitch)" I'm still laughing at that.

Piling on isn't anything to admire either, so I'll stop now, but this type of thing does need to be said. I'm surprised, though, how many people are saying it in major newspapers etc.

.. and yes, Kanye sounded great at the VMA's. I watched a little bit of it later, and it was like Web cams were at a big party. Strange, but it pretty much worked.

TS - AHAHAHAA, I can't believe you went ahead and listened to the other songs. I listened to this one when it began making the rounds and while its not the death of pop music as we know it like some people have been saying, I felt pretty much what you felt to the point of utter boredom. And I decided to leave the rest alone. btw, Did you catch her act at the VMAs? At this point, its pretty much why does she bother because she's such as a trainwreck everybody's going to pick on that rather than her career. She really ought to go away for a bit, put her life in order and come back sans wig and drama.

Oh and kanye vs 50? I just saw 50 hanging out with Paris the other day so I guess we can all now get on the Decline and Fall of 50 Cent bandwagon coz you know that's the omen of death.

Britney in less than half an hour is about to astound the world or suck out loud at the MTV VMA awards.

I forgot, but should not have considering my point about little girls and horny boys buying Britney Spears, how silly discussing the purest (or impurest) of pop music can be.

I had a person e-mail me directly with these wordsm in total: <i>You Suck / Britney Rules. Swirl.</I>

I responded, and I wished I could use drunkenness as an excuse, "I Rule, Britney Sucks. Swoon."

This got a "WTF" in response, which was my first reaction on reading the original e-mail.

He, if she wants to jump in a hot tub with me, great, (the bubbles hide a lot) as long as I've got my iPod on, listening to oh, let's say, the Connecticut Department of Vehicles podcast. Or the few good Britney songs listed in the orginal post.

ca#17, damn, you're right. I apologize for the unintended factual error caused by moving parapgraphs around when writing. Thanks for bringing it my attention. .

.. On the video, I'm not sure there's an official video for the song yet. I thad the impression it's just a YouTube amateur "videographer."

I cannot believe that there actually are people who have come to defend Britney's "vocal talent" after her numerous very public showdowns :) Now I don't feel so bad about being attacked by Aishwarya Rai fans. At least AR has some class.

#7 Chris: Having a Britney Spears fan telling someone else to get a life is pretty ironic :D

Her life is far more entertaining than her singing. From crotch and butt showing fiascoes along with allegations of child neglect people naturally find her personal more interesting than Brangelinas.

Britney can never make a comeback in the music world. Her time is up!What she can do is be a part of some reality show like Big Brother;)

>> It is not easy to stand up and perform in front of 5000 people. It must be something about her, when there are millions of people who admire her.

Rasti, she chose this profession. She's been in front of crowds from a very young age.

Admire? That's an interesting word. If people do admire her, I'd be interested as to why. THere are so many igly aspects of her personality, i have to wonder. Again, I don't wish her ill will at all.

But's she's a very stupid person who was beautiful. Still is on the surface but has made very many horrible personal decisions. It's who she is. Admire?

next, you have a point, though I did talk about the song and its three main elements - a high, digitally enhanced breathy voice, her intro and a club beat. There's not much there there.

There's a buzzing slow BPM backbeat. The song has her talking about being the center of attention, without any self-reflection.

<I>"Every time they turn the lights down, just want to go that extra mile for you. That display of affection, feels like no one else in the room</I>

Her vacuity is on full display.

That's the rest of my review. I put the song in context of who she's become and why it all rings hollow (er).

Somehow you read the whole thing, though so it must have engaged at some point. Thank you. Do you agree? how would you review a song that says nothing and has very few elements? go for it. I could be wrong.

Well, I respect your opinion, but I think, Britney is a good performer. Good enough to become a star. Of course, there is marketing, and people around her, who helped her to get to the top. But there are people who helped her to get to the bottom. I've never been a fun of Britney, eventhough I like some songs of hers. But still, when I watched her show, I was still impressed. It is not easy to stand up and perform in front of 5000 people. It must be something about her, when there are millions of people who admire her.

I wonder if Britney know something about her own ancestry and their place in the history of Amercia if she would behave better.
Well, lets see how she does at the MTV awards..

From the wordpress blog: Your Future, Your Past

"History pivots on small events. If one Indian had not disobeyed his Chief, there would be no Family ForestŪ today, and maybe no Britney Spears (her 10th great-grandfather George Pace was born well before the massacre, and may or may not have been at Jamestown at the time)."

Chris E. is every famous entertainer talented? Let's start there. I'm sure yu love and respect everyone because of their talent even if they're not your personal taste????

Some people are the products of packaging.

Honestly, have you seen her dance even at her most famous. It's by the numbers. You can see her remembering the moves as she moves, it does not come naturally.

The rest of your comment is about success, not talent. What's people writing about you got to do with anything? A few million words have been penned about serial killers and Josef Stalin, as well. I guess they're talented.

Madonna, sickeningly pretentious now, has one thing up on Britney - she's smart. That one thing actually gives you the ability to say something meaningful. That is also useful.

What do you personally like about Britney Spears' voice or dancing? That she used to be able to sing when she was kid is not an endorsement of her now.

How can someone tell someone else to get a life when they personally do not know whether they have one? Read the piece again and address some of the points. I'd be grateful.

She wouldn't have achieved her status had she not had talent. Even though her personal life post-divorce has grabbed headline after headline, Britney Spears became a phenomenon based on her first smash single "...Baby One More Time" (great music, if not fluff) and continued with hit after hit. Like her or not, she has you and the world writing about her.....just like Madonna before her. How can one call her untalented when there is obvious evidence of vocal talent in her younger days? How can someone call someone else untalented when they personally do not know them? Please, get a life.
