To those who have ben following the discussion on my book Lies, lies and More Lies. The Campaign to Defame Hindu/Indian nationalism. I would like to share the following letter that I received from an Amazon.com reviewer vis-a-vis Martha Nussbaum's The Clash Within:
Dear Vivek
I have read your book during the summer. I have also received other comments on my review of Martha Nussbaum's book, sometimes heinous, always much less balanced than your insightful essay on Hindutva and its critics.
After giving it serious consideration, I have decided to delete my review on The Clash Within from the Amazon website. I will leave it to other readers to post their comments and provide their own perspective on the issues addressed in Nussbaum's book. As for me, I claim no expertise on the topic. I am just a plain reader who has a great admiration for India as a nation and who deeply respects its tradition of pluralism. Most of my readings on India have been works of fiction, which I don't review. As for political materials, thanks to your essay I know understand better the contested nature of the topic as well as the vigour of some readers' reaction to Martha Nussbaum's book. Thanks to this exchange, I have learned something about India, but more importantly I have seized the depth of my ignorance.
I thank you again for having kindly sent me the e-version of your collection of essays, which indeed provided me with a different and valuable perspective.
With grateful regards,
Etienne
                                                                        Etienne Rolland Piegue, Amazon Reviewer

beady:

the whine/cause ratio is the highest for palestinians.

i agree. and to be fair you must also agree that none of the groups you have mentioned have been subjected to such continuous abuse by the israelites backed by neoconzix!

and the answer to this is very obvious:)

How come other people who are fighting for their identity and land dont get 0.0001% of the attention?

the US, neoconzix and other ailing western powers unstinted support in creating the ghettotistans

:)

t, let me put it in another way

the whine/cause ratio is the highest for palestinians.

And visiting them isnt going to much change my opinion. WHy would it? lol. Is my visiting palestine going to reduce the much more problematic issues around the globe? or is that going to make me ask for the vietnamese, congolese, sudanese or what have you to whine more?

Good for them that they dont want to give up their identity and land. But why only them? How come other people who are fighting for their identity and land dont get 0.0001% of the attention? Kurds? Southern Sudanese? Nagas? see what i mean by whine to cause ratio?

cheers

beady:

since you do write so confidently...may i suggest you do visit gaza and west bantustan? it will only lead more authenticity to your writings

the palestinians are as semite as the israelis...and as obstinate...they are displaced...they are subjugated...and they are meted out inhuman treatment since '48...and most importantly they refuse to give up their identity and land

and in this they differ from the others you mentioned

#5, t, no I havent. But I have lived through extreme refugee driven poverty. I have also seen refugees elsewhere in the UK, in Zimbabwe, Egypt, South Africa and of course in India. That has nothing to do with it. 60 years after the Naqba and they are still stuck there. While 90% of the world's refugees dont get a helping hand or publicity, they die, manage to stagger on or make a new life. Crying is ok, crying is good, and you cannot avoid crying but when it carries on for 60 years, it is whining.

#6, thank you, Ralph for the comments.

#7, Tusar, I am sorry, i didnt get the reference, my apologies.

Dr Bhaskar Dasgupta has commented upon three of Jyotirmay Sharma's "Gang of Four" in this post. Hence, his silence on Sri Aurobindo is a tad intriguing.

t, lol, hehehe

that rolling over and dying might actually help. But they roll over AND whine!,

But no sympathy from this refugee's son, I am afraid. And far too often, the whines are a cover up for something else which has unfortunately left me in a position that i tune out every time the word "palestinian suffering" is heard. And that's quite common, and that's what I am recommending that the Hindu's dont descend into. A constant whine about how discriminated we are. Its demeaning, its humiliating and frankly irritating.

lol

cheers

As you say the author does, when a person's beliefs depend on his opponents logic, the beliefs might need to be double-checked.

I am learning as I read. Thanks.

beady:

a digression?

see the example of the Palestinians, the almost constant whining and moaning is so irritating.

you are absolutely right: they should roll over and play dead!
