Makaibari and the Happy Valley tea estates had been my favourite haunts during 1983 - 85. The
Makaibari tea fetches the highest price at London tea auctions.

Bannerjees of Makaibari are famous for their hospitality. The old world charm of colonial tea estates still exists at Makaibari.

Makaibari tea clone which the estate developed has the maximum demand overseas

Rai and Company, the biggest tea retailer in central Kolkata would actually mix Makaibari with other tea just to give the right blend of flavour and color.

Thanks Deepa for bringing back old memories

Until I drank the Makaibari, I wasn't a big fan myself. But honestly, Taj Land's end has converted me. I'm looking forward to my next tea there.

By the way, it's a favourite hangout for several movie stars and models. Adds to the fun of the tea :)
