He behaved like an idiot. But clearly his sin is one which affects the whole of Bollywood, and the rest of their tinseltown shouldn't go unpunished. Their whole industry should be taking a portion of that sentence. Bollywood is like a state within a state, and their glitterati generally behave like they're above the law. There's no point in crushing this one guy and making a martyr out of him, when the whole lot of their ilk are like that. I would propose that a stiff law be passed in parliament to put stiff sentences against celebrity crimes in general. That way it's not Dutt who's being made into an example for what everyone else does. The whole lot of that Bollywood celebrity gang need to be reined in.

It could be called the Sanjay Dutt Act, or else the Celebrity Accountability Act. If you've been in over 5 films within the past 5 years, then you'd fall under the act.

Clearly these Bollywood types often behave like they think they're above the law. But Dutt looks to have been more of a fool than a terrorist. I don't see the point in scapegoating this one guy for his foolishness, when the whole Bollywood pack are like this. It wouldn't be right to crucify this one guy for the greater sins of the whole lot of them. Govt should slap a big tax on all of Bollywood -- a SIN TAX, just like with tobacco and alcohol.

Dutt's sentence should be commuted to doing community service, where he can make use of his celebrity appeal to promote civic values. He should also be barred from promoting/glorifying violence onscreen.

Next, I feel that Rajen Nair seems to be very selective on whom he wants prosecuted. I don't see him mentioning the ruling Congress Partymen and their role in the 1984 riots.

Justice Srikrishna was no smarter than Justice Kode -- in other words, not very smart at all. Srikrishna just randomly slapped a bunch of crap together -- much like Rajen Nair -- and turned it into a report. The report was very politically slanted, not unlike Lalu's investigation into the Godhra train burning.
