All Charges Dropped Against Dr. Haneef, Indian Doctor in Australia
Aaman Lamba
Dr. Haneef is effectively a free man and the Australian government wiping some muck off their face after dropping all terrorism-related charges against the Indian doctor in a Brisbane magistrates court.
Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, Damian Bugg, said: "On my view of this matter a mistake has been made. I will now take further steps to inquire how that mistake occurred."
He said two 'errors of fact' had been made by the prosecution, and took part responsibility. The errors related to the SIM Card and to the supposed residence of Dr. Haneef while in the United Kingdom. The SIM card was earlier reported as having been in the burning jeep at Glasgow airport, when in fact it was with Sabeel Ahmed, the younger brother of the alleged Glasgow bomber, Kafeel Ahmed.
The Australian police also wrongly recorded that Dr Haneef had lived in the same residence at the same time as his cousins, the terror brothers. The Magistrate, Wendy Cull has ruled that the charges against Dr Haneef be dismissed. There is no confirmation on his status and whether he will still be deported.
The Australian Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty confirmed the dropping of charges, but defended the process that had been followed, and refused to accept that mistakes had been made or whether fresh charges would be filed against Dr. Haneef.
Dr. Haneef's solicitor and cousin welcomed the news and said they would fight deportation.

As I said earlier, Haneef's case was not based on terrorism or facts, it was solely based on racism.
As I wrote to various Australian newspapers and Times of India that Australia is a rogue country,
constituted of ex-fugitives and exiles from British They are no better than Rednecks, who kept the whole continent occuppied only for the Europeans.
Finally, ou pressure on Australian Government bore fruits.

As an Australian I am terribly ashamed of this treatment of Dr Haneef for a hopeful political gain by a bunch of bullying cowards.

Sanjay, your ignorant generalisations do you no favours. Attack the Australian government by all means, but claiming 20 million people are rednecks is ridiculous.

I fully support the Australian Government.
They investigated Haneef because HE WAS LINKED TO TERRORISM, found that he was not guilty and released him.
I think this is an excellent example of the justice system at work.
You all sound like a bunch of horrible spoilt little children who always find a reason to complain about anything the government does. It's kinda pathetic.

Well..It does not really matter whether the Australians are racist or not. Our man has been released and that is good news. Such goof ups happen in India everyday.....remember that Kashmiri model who was thrown out of BD and then arrested again in India and then released

Here's a question for all those who think western governments are doing a bad job handling terrorism.
How would you solve the problem of global terrorism?
(your answer should include your current strategy of surrending to, and trying to appease their fascist aspirations)

@bystander. i know what you mean. so many bloggers have proclaimed his innocence and guilt without knowing the inside story.
i agree with you that we should leave the investigation to the professionals.
