Making Oneself Heard - Stripping Down
Sakshi Juneja
Is this what some women across our nation actually have to resort to in order to get their ill-fated stories heard and taken seriously? Sad but so very much a part of our 21st Century reality.
22 years old Pooja Chauhan shocked the conservative city of Rajkot in Gujarat state, by her half-naked parade through the street. In an interview to a local TV channel, Pooja Chauhan justified her action saying she did it to embarrass her husband and in-laws. There are also reports that the young woman tried to set herself on fire a few days ago demanding the police take immediate action against her husband and in-laws, who she alleged had been physically torturing her for a dowry.
Frustrated and tired of busting her lungs out in front of the concerned authorities, Pooja was left with no other choice but to shed her clothes in broad day-light, armed herself with a baseball bat and took to the streets of her home town – all of this just so she could get the Cops to do their job.
And still things don’t get better; though she got those fuckers arrested they were later released on bail and to top things up, Pooja has now reportedly been asked to vacate her rented home – so much for supporting the needy.
This is nothing but painfully sickening.

In a memorandum to Commissioner of Police K Nityanandam the community leaders said that Hansaba, who is a TB patient, has been mentally and physically harassed by Pooja alias Hansa Parmar, who at the time of marriage with Pratap in 2004 lied that she was an orphan and unmarried.
"For often harassing Hansaba she must be arrested and custody of two-and-half-year-old Anjali, should be given to the father'', said leaders including Dinesh Vaghela and Jayesh Parmar. Pratap produced a copy of an FIR that he had registered at Gandhigram police station against Pooja on March 12, 2006 for harassing her mother. He had alleged that Pooja was into flesh trade, drank alcohol and beat his mother.
The community alleged that someone instigated Pooja to go for a semi-nude parade. "There has to be a fair investigation to find out who prompted Pooja," they said.
The community leaders said Pooja gave wrong details about herself to Pratap at time of marriage.

According to data obtained (using RTI) from the Ministry of Home Affairs, in the year 2005 alone, 58,319 cases were registered under charges of cruelty by husband and relatives (IPC 498A), and resulted in the arrest of 127,560 individuals including 339 children and 4,512 adults over the age of 60. In the same year, 15, 409 individuals were arrested in Andhra Pradesh, including 417 senior citizens and 14 children.
The Supreme Court of India has labeled the misuse of section 498A as "legal terrorism" (BUT NOT THE LAW AS SUCH)
98% women are victims of dowry, torture, harassment, misuse of religious laws, verbal abuse, mental abuse, physical abuse in India but these cases never get recorded. We have to spread more awareness.
Pooja Chauhan whose husband had bribed the cops to avoid giving her a FIR is one such case. She had to resort to dire measures to be heard.
**Today her husband has been arrested.
**The Commissioner has to provide an explanation for not giving her an FIR
There are so many women out there who never know that such a law exists?
80% men in a notorious men's group do not care about their child and prefer to make a contract with their children in return to be taken care of in old age. ( refer comment 58--Tamil Actor link )

This episode vindicates our belief.
Every single friendly neighbourhood feminist contributes to alarmism, extremism and hypocrisy in one way or other.
Some create hatred, some propagate and market it giving a very innocent impression.
All feminists are the same. They all are united in their mission and they do not care what happens to innocents.
When innocent elders face abuse and get jailed in false cases, then every single feminist is responsible.
They want people to be pronounced guilty with just one line of complaint and they want the accused to be jailed.
NCW, NHRC and Govt come much later. They are smaller players. The real enemies are good nice neighbourhood feminists.
When on defensive, they will come with their crocodile tears and claim how "at a personal level" they believed that laws have to be same irrespective of gender. But, they suddenly get silent, when questioned about punishment to female criminals, who make false claims and file false cases.
Their aim is to take the biggest portion of the social welfare cake for women deprieving children, elders and men their share. They also make sure that real female victims do not get justice, otherwise how can they carry on with their agenda.
They coin misleading terms like "gender sensitivity", "gender studies", "gender budgeting" to carry out their fascist designs. All these are only meant to promote their fascist ideology using tax payer's money for which large number of men sweat every day.
Just like religious terrorists, they use their networks in media, literature, social work to weaken the whole social fabric by promoting hatred.

Bitterness of wives leads to abuse of India's anti-dowry laws
Women's rights groups in India are concerned that vendettas by some estranged wives could bring India's vital and hard-won anti-dowry laws into disrepute
By Amrhit Dhillon
THE OBSERVER, NEW DELHI
Monday, Jul 07, 2003, Page 9
The entire Sharma family is stuck inside New Delhi's Tihar Jail -- from the grandparents down to the youngest child, aged three. This is not due to some rampant criminal gene but because a daughter-in-law has filed charges against them alleging harassment to extract dowry payments.
Roop Sharma says their son's marriage to Nisha went badly wrong.
"When divorce seemed on the cards, Nisha's parents began claiming we were torturing Nisha and that we were trying to get a car and gold jewellery out of them. But they just wanted to take their anger out on us and the easiest way was to get us thrown into jail on cooked up dowry charges," she said.
Such cases have prompted some Indian lawyers to question whether India's hard-won anti-dowry laws have now played into the hands of embittered wives seeking revenge on their husbands and their husbands' families.
Hostages
After the traditional arranged marriage, Indian brides go to live with the husband's family. Quite often she is then mistreated and forced to try to extract more dowry -- motorbikes, cars, household goods -- from her parents, even though the husband's family have probably already received something at the time of the marriage. The wife is a hostage, liable to a thrashing unless her parents produce the goods.
The anti-dowry laws were drafted to help women in this position. If things got really bad, she could report her in-laws to the police.
But a New Delhi high court judge, Sadhana Ramachandran, is seeking a review of the laws. She said they are being abused by wives conducting marital vendettas. They fling false accusations at innocent men and their families, to get even or to inflict pain.
"Such women incriminate everyone, not just the husband but the husband's sister or brother and parents. In the Sharma's case, the three-year-old girl ended up in jail too because, with the entire family inside, there was no one to look after her at home," Ramachandran said.
Ramachandran knows of 85-year-old grandparents in jail, awaiting bail or trial on dowry charges.
"It saddens me to say this, because in my career I have focused on the injustice women suffer in a male-dominated society but some women are misusing these laws out of pure viciousness," she said.
In one recent case Rajiv Sethi, 26, came back to India from South Africa to marry the bride his mother had chosen. The marriage collapsed and during the painful denouement, his wife Nandita, accused him and her mother-in-law of "mental cruelty" over dowry.
Lack of proof
"I don't even believe in dowry," exclaims the mother-in-law, Radhika Sethi. "I accepted the fact that their marriage wasn't working out but she accused me of starving her, of locking her up and beating her. None of it is true. My son is devastated at having to run around police stations and the courts. He's lost 27kg. She's ruined his life with a lie. But how can we prove that we were loving?"
There are fears that abuse of anti-dowry laws could lead to increasing scepticism about the numerous genuine cases of women being mistreated or murdered by husbands and in-laws. That would be a tragedy as some 7,000 women were killed over dowry demands in 2001.
In New Delhi alone, a woman is killed -- usually doused with kerosene and set on fire -- every day.
Radhika Sethi approves of the judge's call for a review and feels that a proper inquiry should take place before anyone is arrested to separate genuine from fabricated cases. Some lawyers also believe that automatic bail should be given in dowry cases (something that does not happen in all parts of India) so that innocent families can at least be spared the ordeal of jail.
But women's groups have reacted to the judge's call with dismay. The All-India Democratic Women's Federation (AIDWA) has written to the chief justice of India urging him to deny a review.
"It's taken decades for women to pluck up the courage to use these laws and now they want to dilute them," said Brinda Karat, AIDWA president.
"There may well be a few cases of abuse. But dowry-related violence is so horrific that these laws are life-savers for women and it would be disastrous to dilute them. Dowry-hungry men will think they can get away with murder, literally," Karat said.
Too docile
As it is, she said, Indian women are so culturally conditioned to be docile that very few actually invoke them. AIDWA says only 40,000 cases were registered last year -- "not even a drop in the ocean" -- compared with the violence it says women experience over demands for more dowry.
Lawyer Rani Jethmalani, who specializes in dowry cases, also believes that the number of false cases are miniscule. Marriage is sacrosanct in India, she says, and women will go to any lengths to save theirs.
"I know women who have gone back to their husband and in-laws even after they tried to murder them. Given this attitude, how many will falsely accuse their husband, knowing it means the certain end of the marriage?" Jethmalani said.
If the chief justice agrees to a review, AIDWA, the National Commission for Women and other groups plan nation-wide protests.
"We fought long and hard for these laws," Brinda Karat said. "We're not going to give them up easily."

Community seeks fair probe in complaint against sect leader
Express News Service
Rajkot, July 10: A DAY after a woman filed an FIR alleging indecent demands by Vaishnav community religious leader, the Soni community came to the rescue of the priest calling charges made by the woman and baseless.
Members of Soni community on Tuesday met the Commissioner of Police requesting him for a fair probe into the incident, where a woman had alleged that she had been estranged by her husband because she did not surrender herself to a prominent religious leader of Vaishnav community.
Riya Lodhia, 24, had filed a police complaint on Monday, saying that she had been meted out undue harassment by her in-laws as she had refused to give herself to Brajesh Maharaj, a priest of Vaishnav community haveli (temple) Madanmohan Prabhu Laxmiwadi.
Riya has said that the recent Pooja Chauhan episode had given her courage to make the matter public.
According to Riya, her husband Vimal had estranged from her five years back when she refused to give herself to Maharaj.
The A-Division police have registered a case against Vimal, his father Jayantibhai, mother Kusumben and Brajesh Maharaj under IPC 506(2), 509 and 114. Jayantibhai is a trustee of the haveli.
Vaishnav community leaders, including Mathur Babarwala, Daya Delawala and Hasu Khakhar, met Police Commissioner K Nityanandam on Tuesday and sought his help for a fair investigation into the matter. They said that Riya and Vimal are divorced and their guru is innocent.
Riya, mother of four-year-old girl, has alleged that her husband had abandoned her within four months of their marriage in 2002 and that she had to raise her child all alone.
"My in-laws asked me to completely surrender myself to Brajesh Maharaj. They would force to me visit the haveli and pay service to him.
When I refused to do that, they asked me to go to my parents' place and never allowed me to come back again,'' said Riya, who submitted an application to the Commissioner of Police K Nityanandam on Monday.
She said her in-laws have a chemical factory _Vimal Chemicals _ but she has been living with her uncle as her parents are away in Dubai. Though she wanted justice, she could not muster courage to go public against her in-laws until the Pooja Chauhan incident.
Brajesh Maharaj, when contacted, dismissed the charges. "All the charges levelled by her are false. I do not understand why she has been doing all this,'' said Brajesh Maharaj.

Feminists have insidious agendas that have nothing to do with social welfare or women welfare. I offer this article by Sakshi is a proof of that.
Now, the baseball bat wielding, shiny under garmented Pooja Chouhan's true story is slowly trickling down in bits and pieces to the masses. Details include her addictions, her prior marriages, the print media journalist involvement in the instigation of her protest. In her husband's words - "She would come home late every day. When I tried to stop her from going out with her male friends and from consuming liquor, she threatened suicide and also beat up my mother. Even our neighbors are afraid of her as she is capable of doing anything." And indeed she proved what she was capable of to the world! After the spotlight turned on her, she now shifted to Kanta Stri Vikas Gruh, a woman's shelter away from the probing eyes and ears. May be all women who scream harassment and shout for the summary arrests of in-laws using fascistic laws should be moved to women's shelters first.
NHRC, instead of warning all the concerned government and law enforcement agencies to respect the Human Rights of the accused and not to jump to any conclusions until an investigation is completed, shamelessly sent a show cause notice to Police commissioner for the alleged delay in registering the FIR by the now infamous Pooja Chouhan. This goes to show, despite their euphemestic name, NHRC is also after all, a stooge of the party in power's gender politics.
Until the fascistic laws like 498a are eliminated from the books of our land, all responsible and decent citizens of this country should work tirelessly to spread the awareness of this evil. Neither of these two adjectives (responsible and decent) apply to the defenders of the indefensible.

Feminists over the world are not called Feminazis for no reason. Their methodologies, their propaganda, their obfuscation of truth, their justifications in saying their methods only affect a miniscule percentage of people adversely, but benefit larger segment of people - their insistence on summary arrests and the list can go on - all point to the fascistic underpinnings of feminism.
After the death of nazism, it is now the turn of Feminism. Just as we waited for the holocaust before we defeated the nazism, we need some more grief and destruction before we will defeat the feminism.
All evil triumphs with the appeasement by the ordinarily righteous individuals clouded by propaganda. Once the clouds of the feminist propaganda are shattered through, the naked truth will startle everyone into action. That would be the end of Feminist Fraud.

RAJKOT HARASSMENT CASE
Sex twist to dowry case, NCW probes bare truth

New Delhi/Rajkot: On July 6, a young woman in Rajkot protested dowry harassment by walking semi-nude on the city streets.
Twenty-two-year-old Pooja Chauhan hit headlines after she took to the shocking form of protest alleging torture by her in-laws and husband, embarrassing the police into filing a dowry harassment case under the Domestic Violence Act.
But now there's a fresh twist to the case.
The National Commission for Women says it wasn't dowry harassment, but sexual exploitation that forced Pooja into walking the streets in her undergarments.
"She was misused by various people. There must've been a trafficking chain. These are people exploiting young girls in their vulnerable situation. We have one or two names given to us by Pooja. We've given it to the police commissioner," says NCW member, Malini Bhattacharya.
NCW found Pooja was a victim of child trafficking and despite her love marriage with her husband Pratap, she was again pressured into taking to flesh trade.
"I was sick of my mother-in-law and husband. I am so sick, I don't care even if I die now," says Pooja.
Meanwhile, the city police is probing the domestic violence case registered against Pooja's in-laws.
Rajkot police commissioner Nityanandan told CNN-IBN that though police have no information about trafficking and prostitution angle, they will wait for the NCW report to decide on further course of action.
Law catches up with in-laws
Pooja's husband Pratap, mother-in-law Hansa and two neighbours were arrested on harassment charges immediately after the news report and are currently out on bail.
They were summoned by a Rajkot court on July 8 and were asked to respond to Pooja's plea for the demand of alimony and social, mental and physical protection.
Pooja - who went underground after making news - is currently staying with her parents in Rajkot.
The court also ordered police to provide protection to Pooja and also said she should be allowed to continue staying in her rented accommodation.
The court's order directed her landlord in Shastrinagar, where Pooja stayed for the past year with her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, not to ask her to vacate the house.
Meanwhile, NCW says its top priority is to rehabilitate Pooja and her daughter.

The War against Hypocrite Feminists will intensify now.
In spite of repeated requests, Feminists condemned innocent husband and mother-in-law of Pooja Chauhan who was allegedly indulged in prostitution.
Dirty hypocrite feminists used every trick in their "Goebbelian Propaganda" manual to create hatred against men and especially mothers-in-law across the country.
Even the so called Moderate Feminists joined in.
Now, that all feminists are clearly caught with their own pants down in this issue, the conclusion is that every feminist is a danger to the society.
People must campaign against isolating feminists from all organisations, social work and media. How can such hypocrites and terrorists be given a license to take all country for a ride with their rumours and mischief?

Ms Juneja,I'm trying to understand your anger...can you explain the use of the phrase"fuckers" to describe her in laws.I'm trying to understand why you rushed in to condemn them before all the facts came out in the open.
Indian Express reports
RAJKOT, JULY 11 : The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday ruled out that Pooja Chauhan, who recently stripped and took to Rajkot’s streets, alleging “harassment” by her husband and in-laws, was harassed for dowry or for failing to bear a male child.
According to the Commission, “severe exploitation” during her childhood had led to her take the step. With the 22-year-old’s family unwilling to take her back and the community set against her, the NCW team said counselling and rehabilitation of the 22-year-old were now a priority.
The four-member NCW team—which came down to Rajkot on Wednesday—met Pooja, her parents, in-laws, Pratap, community members and police officials.
Indian Express further reports..“Severe exploitation since childhood has led to tremendous mental distress in Pooja’s case. Pooja had run away from her house as a child due to exploitation, which continued post-marriage. There was discord between Pratap and Pooja over several issues, but she was never harassed for dowry or for not bearing a male child. Her extreme act was the result of a desire to be heard and break free from exploitation,” said member, National Council for Women, Malini Bhattacharya.
This is a report by Himanshi Dhawan in the Times of India..
..."Bhattacharya said,"Pooja told us that that she was unhappy at her parents home and ran away from there several times. She fell into bad company and we suspect was trafficked by people..."....and further.."Two cases have been registered by the police for dowry harrasment under 498a of the Indian Penal Code and the Domestic Violence Act.
the report also mentioned that Pooja was not harrased for dowry.
Now Ms Juneja you have the all this on paper
...National commission for women member Malini Bhattacharya has herself confirmed that there was no harrasment for dowry...pooja has booked two case of 489a against her in laws....please tell all of us who really are the "fuckers"??
