This is hilarious! Hehehe :D I'm sure twas a publicity stunt. I just got back from watching all his scripted and televised dramas on those singing contests. He really is full of himself that man! To add to my increasing intolerance of his nasal crooning, my roommate can't stop singing "Ye tera mera milna..." :)

Some websites mentioned that he was advised by the shrine authorities to don a burqa after he was mobbed by the crowd in his earlier failed attempts to seek blessings at the shrine. @ Deepti: what is Chawdary ka chand???I am sorry I didn't catch the (hidden) message.

One more clever manoeuvre from Reshammiya's quiver. Whether it was promotional gimmick or as he mentions an act to avoid public attention, who knows it was this or that. But one thing is sure by now, me-thinks this playact that too in a shrine will definitely draw more crowd to the theatre for the initial release. Isn't it ?
