Salam and Blessings,
Nicely written but with a few clarifications, if I may
1. I would contribute the 'reform attempt' as to start from Imam Ibn Taimiyyah instead, as it was his work that influenced Imam Ibn Abdul Wahhaab at later period, most. Both from the Hanbali school.
2. Both were Salafi scholars. Wahabi is more of a derogatory remark. More widely used by the west or the ill-informed.
3. It was not a 'reform'. Just a call to bring back and practice the religion the way it was meant to be practiced. Following as what is written in the Noble Quran
...This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion... Ma'idah:3
Islam was PERFECTED. No alteration required, no Innovations to be added. The Imams were trying to make Muslims be aware of these. Not a reform, a reminder.
My 2 cents worth. Wassalam
