:) Though you have a point about the double standards, it does not absolve India-China of their misgivings. We are one of the worst polluters, our CO2 emissions are rising and there is a marked indifference towards doing anything at all about it.

We should do our bit without predicating our actions on what US or Pakistan does.

And Anupallavi...the point is not that India does not do anything to curb the pollution. I totally agree that we should.

But deals such as these would put developing nations in the back seat straight away - to give you an example - most of the power that will be generated in India will come from second hand power stations bought from Europeans / Americans (which are inefficient)& the deal suggests trading of green points. So the Western countries will have brand new power stations that will deliver power with lower emissions while countries such as India will be emitting over limits & will have to buy green points... so in effect we will end up paying the West for the problem the West has created...

They have been polluting for the last 100 years & even now their per capita consumption & emissions are far far greater than ours.
