Ram, Yesudas is a bit old to be next gen, don't you think?

Parveen, thanks for your comments. They are definitely valid. The B-list is about economics not talent. KK isn't a B-lister in terms of talent. I just believe that when producers go out to sign names to sing their songs KK isn't their go to guy for the best songs. That puts him the B-list.

Also if you are fond of singers you should listen to the title track from Jhoom Baraber Jhoom because it has Shankar Mahadevn, KK and Sukhwinder all singing similar lines. Good chance to compare their abilities.

i agree that the list provided by aspi is according to what he thinks but KK belongs to the list of A-list of singers in my opinion(forget about not putting him in the b list). though sonu nigam is the most versatile and my favorite singers in recent times but frankly speaking KK has delivered more number of hits than anybody else in the last few years showing a lot of versatilty. again i just wanted to voice my opinion. no offence intended!!

Hey me too. I prefer the male voices any day to those little girl trills. I like some of the people you mentioned like Babul Supriyo and Kailash Kher. I'll look out for the others.

Rahul, Shashikanth as Aditi points out this list is personal. It's not that I don't enjoy KK (such a hardworking and selfless singer) or James (I enjoyed the rock-ghazal format of Rishtey) but I find elements of what they bring to the table elsewhere. It's just a personal choice.

Akik, same goes for Kumar Sanu. He never did get me excited but also objectively his voice isn't of the same quality as Sonu or Udit.

Today, when Kumar Sanu has decided not to record much songs and become very choosy, all other singers are getting calls. I want to say that, Sonu Nigams, Udit Narayans etc. etc. could be easily replaced by Kumar Sanus.

Hehe, this is kinda funny...I thought Aspi stated that twas his list of favorites. How can people decide who's missing from the list unless they know him well enough to decide who his fav singers are?! Never mind. Just tickled me, thats all :D

As pointed out by Rahul, KK is sorely missing from the list. Another name that comes to my mind is James. He sung "Chal Chale" in "Woh Lamhe" and recently "Rishtey" in "Life in a Metro". Very promising guy!

Lucky Ali is also missing from the list, though I haven't come across any film track from him in recent times.

As for Daler, he elavated "Ru Ba Ru" from "Maqbool" to a masterpiece. He surely has the potential for off-beat tracks.

In female singers, I miss Jaspinder Nirula.
