But let us not pass a verdict unless we have heard the other side of story. If you want to restore faith of comman man and judges in genuine dowry harassment, please push for punishing those who file false cases in lacs. It is another story that if done so, too many wives (and her relatives) would then be behind bars for either promoting dowry transaction in the first place or later for filing a false dowry case. P.S. I do not think dowry harassment will go away till the time the girl gets her rightful share in her parental household. That will not only make them economically independent and self sufficient, but will also be a fair distribution from the point of view of husband who currently is assumed to be the only one responsible for financial status of family.
