Uma,

My question is, what if these "reputed" organisations or "reputed" media has its own designs?

I have seen thousand lies float in "reputed" Indian and western media especially related to "false statistics".

Depending on "repute" organisations opens up the danger like "putting all eggs in one basket".

People need to act locally in stead of waiting for centralised response.

Decentralised systems are better than centralised systems during turbulence.

Sumanth, it gets my goat too that the most basic facts need to be substantiated by reports from so-called reputed organizations. This is why I feel the only solution is for individuals to get together and take action, no matter how insignificant it might seem at the time.

Deepa, the report I saw was on the front page of the Indian Express on April 10th.

http://www.indianexpress.com/story/27952.html

I was just considering switching back to the Times but what you've said has made me change my mind.

This report did not make it to the front page of the Times. I think I saw it stuck in one of the inside pages. They had some cricket nonsense on the first page. I think that about says it all.

The problem is with the attitude of "Urban Intellectuals" and people in media.

These people do not have eyes. They need an UNICEF reports or survey by some organisation to wake up.

Can not these morons see that thousands of children are working in restaurents in Bangalore and all other cities? Can not they see that almost every day these kids get mentally abused and almost every week they get physically abused.

Every second child in India is abused mentally or physically.

With such pathetic scenario, we want to implement all sort of western laws in the country when these children have behavioural problems when they grow up.

Renuka Chowdhury will do nothing. I promise.

and UNICEF? It is busy attending "Dowry Prohibition" lectures and organising "Domestic Violence against women" seminars in children's organisations like Bosco in Bangalore.

How Pathetic....

The status-hungrey urban intellectuals are the real culprits. They see a situation and yet they will wait for a WHO or UNICEF report to raise a hue and cry about the issue.

Its all about "reliale sources"....you know....

We need data from reliable sources (UNICEF) whose chief was accused of attempted rape.

Looks like a lot more shock treatment is needed for status hungry, foolish, urban intellectuals.
