In the Hebrew Bible, in the book BaMidbár, known in English as Numbers, Bila'am, the seer hired by King Balak of Moav to curse the Children of Israel, tells his employer, "I shall advise your people what this people will do to your people in the End of Days" (BaMidbár/Numbers 24:14, in part). He continues, "I shall see him, but not now, I shall look at him, but it is not near. A star has issued from Jacob and a scepter bearer from Israel; and he shall pierce the nobles of Moav and all the children of Seth" (BaMidbár/Numbers 24:17).
What for Bila'am was "not now" or "not near" is for us near and now. War is imminent in the Middle East. Its general pattern can be discerned by reading Bila'am's prophecy (BaMidbár/Numbers 24:24-17) backwards, a procedure advised in the Book of Yish'ayá/Isaiah. There is much information in the Hebrew Bible that is encoded, and in the case of Bila'am's prophecies, the key to the code is that one needs to read them in reverse order. We will return to this.
On 6 September, I wrote part I of this article, not ever realizing that there might be a part II or part III. In that article, I cited a DEBKAfiles report of a naval buildup off south Lebanon, DEBKAfile's analysis of the reasons it was there and my own, which differed considerably. In short, DEBKAfiles smelled a rat, and said so, but it smelled the wrong rat. That was the article in a nutshell.
Nine days later, I wrote an article crowing abut the change in DEBKAfile's tune in reporting about the fleet off Lebanon. This article also analyzed the seriousness of Iran's intent to go to war, and the possible consequences, and examined the possibility of major power shifts here. I raised the possibility of President Katzav being railroaded out of office less than a year before his term ends. Katzav is a figurehead. Why spend money and time on a media circus and press lynch, even if he is guilty of rape? We see why now. For some compelling reason, Shimon Peres wants to be state president. To yours truly, a suspicious fellow, that means that Peres has some plan which requires an empty presidential office. That was the second article in a nutshell.
HizbAllah did what I expected and reasserted its control over south Lebanon, barring UN access to a good part of the territory under its control. Last week, there was a confrontation between a German ship in the huge flotilla off Lebanon and two Israeli F16's. And there has been a major change adopted in the Israeli system of government. The next president will be a powerful official in the government.
At the end of September, events began moving in a direction that did not surprise me, except for their speed in developing.
Two or three battle groups of the American fleet started sailing for this part of the world, in what ostensibly were to be battle exercises, called "war games." They arrived here a few days ago, which is when DEBKAfiles reported on them. At first they were announced to be part of what the Americans had called them, "war games." But on 30 October, DEBKAfiles was singing a different tune.
Some of the words of the new song go like this:
Hundreds of US and allied war ships foregathered in the strategic seas of the Middle East and India in the last days of October 2006 for two primary missions: To prepare for a US-led military strike against Iran which has stepped up its uranium enrichment program with a second centrifuge project - undeterred by the prospect of UN sanctions; and measures to fend off palpable al Qaeda threats to oil targets.
It is highly doubtful that Al Qaeda will strike at oil targets owned by the family of ibn Sa'úd, the thugs who rule Arabia. They are two branches of the same outfit, the Wahhabi war machine that is trying to spread its version of "Islam" using every method possible. But you cannot convince secular intelligence analysts who dismiss religion of this. In their eyes, everything has a price and all one need do is to discover the price and find a way to pay the price, and whatever one desires is theirs. War in the service of a messianic ideal, such as we see from Iran, or war based on conscience and long range planning, such as we see out of Saudi Arabia, is just not within the mind-set of the secular Jews in DEBKAfiles. All they understand is money and power. It should never be forgotten that DEBKAfiles is the Mossad's back door news service.
So the fleet off of Lebanon and the massive U.S. buildup off of Iran and India are to deal with Iran - and what else?
The "what else" is what this article is all about.
Expecting an attack from Iran - Stage 2 of the "rocket therapy"
Part of the "what else" is that this country will be attacked by Iran if the United States attacks Iran. We've already been attacked by the Iranians via the good offices of their lapdogs, HizbAllah. That was the "rocket therapy" that changed many Israeli minds about "peace" and "roadmaps" and the other trash that foreign powers try to shove down our throats, always with the "best of intentions." The Iranians learned something very important via that rocket barrage over the summer - they learned that this country has no effective shield to stop incoming rockets and missiles.
But this attack will be more severe. No matter what weapons the Americans use to attack Iran, the Iranians will somehow manage to destroy a good part of this country when they do attack us.
Spitting in G-d's face
Another part of the "what else" is that Israeli government officials spitting in G-d's face will not continue with impunity. What do I mean by this? The expulsion of Jews from Gush Qatif was spitting in G-d's face; so was the expulsion of Jews from 'Amona; so were the arrests of teenagers who protested these expulsions and more importantly, the unjust way that due process was perverted to hold these kids in jail for months on end with no reason. Recently, 20 people were expelled from their homes on administrative detention orders and in addition, kids putting up posters protesting this act were arrested. Recently, orders were given for the destruction of more homes in Samaria, not too far away from here, in fact. The date of the destruction was 31 October, and it has not occurred. This is a sign that the ability of the Israeli government to carry out its directives is indeed beginning to collapse, particularly when they spit in G-d's face.
There is another act of spitting in G-d's face, a pagan provocation painted up as a "gay pride parade". An event like this has historic significance in New York; there it commemorates an actual occurrence where homosexuals refused to tolerate police harassment. But in Jerusalem, it is merely spitting in G-d's face, purposely pursuing the kind of event that would take place in a pagan temple in His holy city. Briefly, what I am getting at (and this is a very controversial assertion to make) is that it was normal to have sexual orgies of various kinds in pagan temples in Canaan, and it was this behavior that was targeted in the Torah. The mentality of the secular Israeli élite that ru(i)ns this country is such that not only do they have to pour contempt on their religious brothers, they have to stick their middle finger up at G-d, too. What goes on in the rest of the world is one thing. Here, in the Land gifted to the Children of Israel by the Creator of the Universe, showing off homosexual relations where it can be witnessed is an abomination (Vayikrá/Leviticus 18:22) that has consequences for those who do it and for those who allow it done (Vayikrá/Leviticus 18:24-28).
This parade is scheduled for 10 November, the day that the Nazis destroyed synagogues and homes in Germany in 1938 (Kristallnacht), and began serious and violent persecution of Jews in there. So not only is G-d's face being spat into by these fools, the memory of the Jews who died on 9-10 November 1938, is also being defaced. We will return to this date, for it is of some significance.
The ratcheting up of tensions in the Middle East and Central Asia - spreading the gunpowder
Generally unreported in the media has been the ratcheting up of tensions all across western and central Asia. Michel Chossudovsky, who covers this field from an anti-Israel perspective, has been keeping a close watch on the real rulers of North America and what they have been up to lately.
If one peruses Global Research.ca, one learns, among other things, that the United States now is in a situation where the president there can declare martial law with the stroke of a pen. And now we reach the nub of the "what else."
There will be elections in the United States on 7 November, and it is likely that the Bush administration will be crippled in these elections by losing control of Congress. One article there speculates,
The political stakes are high. If the Republicans lose control of the House, John Conyers would become the Chairman of the powerful Judiciary Committee where he would wield the power to launch investigations into any of several potentially impeachable offenses. If the Republicans lose control of the Senate, Senator Ted Kennedy would become Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and he could launch public hearings into the scandals now swirling around of the Bush White House. Imagine: Ted Kennedy presiding over an official investigation into Bush's clandestine eavesdropping, wiretapping and mail-openings aimed at US citizens or the torture cases of Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib. There are plenty of potentially explosive scandals, and the Republicans realize that they could face the political Apocalypse if they lose the midterm elections this November. Their fears are driving them to draft plans for a political Gotterdammerung of their own, replete with nuclear weapons and a president who has recently refused to remove the 'nuclear option' from the negotiating table."
If the elections in the States do not take place, or have to be delayed because of an event that is of overriding concern, an event which precipitates a declaration of martial law, many of the problems that dealing with an unruly legislative opposition will be solved. This brings us to the key point of this article.
Why war may well be imminent
It's all a matter of what's on the calendar. The event that needs to take place to cause a declaration of martial law in the United States is an attack of some kind either in the United States or in the Persian Gulf. It needs to be significant - significant enough to cause a significant response, not to mention significant enough to give an unpopular president enough wiggle room to garner support for a declaration of martial law at home. The plans are already in the works for an attack on Iran. The ships are there, the warplanes are there. The gunpowder is already sitting around the explosives - all that is needed is the lit match.
So the scenario runs this way. An event does occur. It is enough of an event to "convince" the administration in the United States to declare martial law and put whatever plans it has drawn up for an attack on Iran into effect.
From the point of view of an American administration flunky, this can be anytime from now until the next congress takes office in January, 2007. One needs to be flexible in one's plans. It would be nice if the event took place before 7 November, so as to give the party of the president a boost in the polls, but if it takes place afterwards, then the congress can be dissolved and martial law declared afterwards.
Now, we get back to that "pride parade" in Jerusalem, the pagan provocation scheduled for 10 November. It is my guess that events will conspire to prevent its being held. It was originally scheduled for the summer of 2005 but the expulsion of Jewish residents from Gaza used up the security personnel that would have been needed to secure the homosexuals' safety in Jerusalem. And make no mistake about it; this parade is not at all popular here. The government is planning to pull most of the border guards out of Judea and Samaria to protect the homosexuals who wish to march.
An event that would be sure to cause the cancellation of this parade would be a missile attack on this country. To get that missile attack, you need the provocation to cause it - an American attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.
So let us look at some dates that would be useful to accomplish the goals, of both causing a cancellation of the pagan provocation parade in Jerusalem, and nullifying a congressional election in the States, either the election itself, or its results. Let us also bear in mind that if this is a Divine Mind planning all this, there will be a grim sense of humor to it all, something to give Jews who do pay attention to the calendar (like me) reason to pay more attention. There is already one date that falls into the grim humor category, the date of the parade. The parade itself scheduled for a Friday. One can expect the "celebrants" to begin partying down in their hotels on 9 November, a Thursday night, which in Israel is a lot like Friday night is in America and Europe, the opening of the weekend. The Shabbat (Friday night to Saturday evening) after the parade is Shabbat V'Erá, the Shabbat when one reads in the Torah of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Shabbat before the parade is Shabbat Lekh L'khá, when one reads in the Torah about a major regional conflict in which Abraham plays a role. A grim sense of humor would be to begin a major regional conflict after Shabbat Lekh L'khá and before Shabbat V'Erá. To a non-Jew looking at his calendar, that means between 4 November and 9 November 2006.
And after the explosion?
There is one "what else" that has not yet been dealt with. What are all these European soldiers and marines going to do if they are not going to attack Iran? They are going to come here as peace keepers of one variety or another. Their job will be to see to it that we here finally lose our sovereignty, while the Arabs get to live under a neo-colonial régime that doesn't care a whit about them. And what will all those American fighting men be doing here after they have nuked Iran? They will come here to make sure the Europeans don't get too big a hunk of the place. Once Iran is dealt with, the Bush administration can "nativize" the conflict in Iraq and send a lot of its boys west in trucks and tanks to Jordan to keep a close eye on us - and the Europeans.
Buried deep in this Chicago Tribune article from 5 October is the fact that a German naval patrol sits off the Horn of Africa. Why?
I'm only speculating here, but given that the Horn of Africa is south of Eilat, these ships can sail into the Red Sea and secure it for the Europeans. What I'm getting at is there will be competition between the Europeans and the Americans that will eventually break out into open conflict between them.
I'm not saying that the European forces will move in right away, or that the American forces will move in right away. But I am saying that the stage will have been set, and within a short time after the Iranian beast having been defanged, this country will lose its sovereignty.
That will set the stage for the next chapter of this country's history.
In the meantime, we see the events of Bila'am's prophecy begin to come true:
"Big ships from the coast of Kittim will afflict Assyria and afflict the other bank - but it too, will be forever destroyed." (Numbers 24:24)

GAY PRIDE PARADES
Even though I am a gay man I do have reservations about gay pride marches. I live in the U.S. so I am looking at this issue from within an American cultural context so that certainly colors my perspective on this issue. I do hope the much anticipated "march" in Israel will not become what American gay "pride marches" have become. I do not find gay "pride parades" to be helpful in the least in furthering the causes for equal rights for gays under the laws of the land. What was meant initially to celebrate the diversity of all people and to demonstrate to the world that not all gay people look and act the same has in my mind backfired. Instead of furthering gay causes in which these "gay pride" marches were once intended to accomplish, have now just become parades, lacking integrity and a common or substantial goal. These parades tend to attract many of the subcultures within the gay community which are not at all representative of the vast majority of gay people. These subcultures are often made up of individuals that are exhibitionists and these parades are just another opportunity for them express those abhorrent needs. They in no way demonstrate to the society at large, which are the heterosexuals and incidentally our largest voting constituency, that we are anything but the stereotypes that they believe us to be, and we ourselves have created and need to take responsibility for that.
During the tumultuous times of the late fifties and sixties when Dr. Martin Luther King would peacefully gather individuals together to march down the streets of many of our cities or in front of the nation's capital with one noble goal in mind. All of the participants of these well organized marches seemed to never loose sight of the vision of Dr King and his lofty and rightful goal of attaining equal rights and complete assimilation into the dominant white society. His desire was to demonstrate their cause peacefully and with an air of class and dignity that seemed to surround the participants of these marches.
Do any of you that are old enough, or have at least watched footage of these marches, ever recall anyone behaving in a sexually exploitive manner? Do any of you remember anyone marching without being fully clothed? Do any of you remember anyone pride fully exposing their countless nipple piercings and many with the backs of their pants cut out for the sole purpose of exposing their bare rear ends? Does anyone really and truthfully believe that these behaviors are going to further the rights for gays? On the contrary, all these "parades" do is to deepen the age-old stereotypes of gays and their sexually exploitive lifestyles. Being a gay man myself, I am embarrassed at these parades, and let's call them what they are. They are parades, not marches, which are organized for the purpose of exploiting the exhibitionists and their desire to be a part of just another party. It seems to me that gay culture has reduced itself to this need for endless partying and delighting over inappropriate street theater. There is a time and place for theater of all kinds. However, let's not blur the lines or fool ourselves into believing that these parades are going to benefit anyone other than the voyeuristic nature of those that enjoy inappropriate street theater. If gays really and truly want to make progress in regards to equal rights, then perhaps we ought to borrow some very important lessons from the days the civil rights movements under the leadership of Martin Luther King and his style of furthering the common cause that they all shared. Truth be told, I am primarily concerned about what transpires here in Israel, because Exile is a bitch. And if you pick up a bible - even a Christian version, you'll see that the Children of Israel were commanded to abstain from homosexual behavior that drew witnesses (because the punishment is death, you must have two or three eyewitnesses to obtain a death sentence) because the practices of the Canaanites "contaminated the Land" (Leviticus 18:24-25)which disgorged them.
This does not hold true in America, for American land is not holy.
From your name, I gather you are Jewish, so I'd tell you that coming here and being gay is no sin - but doing so in a public manner, the way you describe in your comment in recent parades, is considered an abomination, th kind of behavior that would have been found in an orgy in a Canaanite temple. Of course, I'm not a rabbi, but even the Jews who would condemn a gay man do not really have an answer for the fact that homosexuality is more based on instinct than on will.
I express my points of view because I have nothing against gay pople in particular, but nevertheless, there is the Torah to be dealt with, and from my own reading, it is the kind of behavior that would have been found in a Canaanite temple orgy that was condemned. Then there is the fact that the homosexuals would never dare march in Mecca or in Vatican City...
The real issue here is the imminence of war. If I'm right in using the Hebrew Bible for a guide, don't imagine that the United States will get off scot-free on the deal.

So since the good book endorses it, do you believe in Slavery as well? I am astonished that someone like you, a seemingly well educated person can literally believe every word in a book written couple of thousands of years ago by couple of ignorant nomads in the face of all the social progress we have had since then.
Man, you are no different from those assholes who believe that they go to heaven if they blow themselves up.
Grow up and start treating other human beings with the respect they deserve regardless of their race/religion/sexual orientation.

Oh, for God's sake, stop this f***ed up"white man's burden" bullshit. The idea that you "Christians" saved the world may be appealing to you. But its NOT true. Civilization arose in India, China, Mesopotamia [Iraq] and Egypt, all of which were not Christian civilisations. For the record, Christianity arose some 2000 years ago, while civilisations like Indus-Saraswati Civilisation originated around 6000 BC, and reached its peak around 3500 BC.
so can you whites please spouting your Judeo Christian bullshit? Your idea of progress is the extermination of cultures and the propagation of the message of the one and only God. Sorry to say this, but we certainly dont agree with your idea of the world.

Do you want a tally of Judeo Christian achievements?
1. you attacked the muslims in Jerusalem as a part of your Crusades, and eventually subjugated the Sultanate, which was the most powerful and enlightened civilization in the medieval period, after India and China.
2. you colonised South America, destroying the civilizations of the Aztecs, Incas and Mayas and oppressed the natives and imposed your beliefs on them- all this just to plunder gold.
3. you "discovered" North America and exterminated the native American Indians- an act that is as horrific as the Holocaust, yet tragically remains unheard of.
4. you conquered Africa, destroyed its civilizations, exploited its resources, enslaved the people, and then left the continent after WW2 leaving scars that havent healed as yet.
5. you destroyed the ancient Chinese civilisation by promoting opium trade, and succeeded in destroying its economy in a period of 60 years.
6. you managed to conquer India, the richest country of the world at that time, looted the resources, oppressed and starved the people for 200 f***ing years before they rose up against you.
Progress indeed!!! Brother Mac, you are just too good.

Gentlemen:
Don't let your anger at Christians or annoyance with verses of the Torah take you eye off the ball. Anil, I have in my "Work in Progress" box an essay that deals with what the sexual prohibitions in the Torah are all about. But you obviously did even not read what I wrote in this essay.
But the more important issue is that the Americans are going to attack Iran very shortly and when they use nukes, the wind blows east towards India and Pakistan.

I'm just as overjoyed with Christians as you are. There is no such thing as "Judaeo-Christian". The Christians do not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Jews for all the reasons you point out - AND MORE. I have a longer bill of particulars than you do.
But again, the point of this article is that war is imminent, and when (not if) the Americans nuke Iran, the winds blow towards India and Pakistan.

The US on Wednesday said it had mounting evidence that Syria, Iran and Hizbollah were planning to "topple" the elected Lebanese government and told them to keep their "hands off".
The US warning reflects growing concerns that Lebanon's Hizbollah, an armed faction and political party backed by Syria and Iran, is raising the pressure for a change of government, now dominated by pro-western forces.

DEBKAfile's military sources report: Iran responded Wednesday night, Nov. 1, to the US-led naval movements and buildup in the in the Red Sea (see separate item) with an announcement by its Revolutionary Guard commander General Rahim Safavi of a big, new naval exercise opening on Nov. 2. Dubbed Great Prophet, the 10-day maneuver will take place in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. The RC Air Force would, he said, for the first time test-fire the Shehab-3 armed with "a cluster warhead."
Our military experts add: This war game will demonstrate whether or not the Shehab-3 stands up to Iran's boasts of its capabilities, including its effective deployment in large numbers. If so, it will pose a lethal strategic threat to Israel and Iran's neighbors. Israel's Arrow anti-missile missile system, developed for defense against the Shehab, is not capable of fending off an attack by large numbers of multiple-warhead missiles.

China and India have it, to some degree. However, all civilization left Iraq and Egypt 37 and 33 centuries ago, repectively, generally speaking not on such great terms either.
My message to the "anti-Christians":
The reasons that there was such friction between Christians and Muslims long ago is the same reason as now, simply both sides fear each other's strange way of doing things. But our way of doing things has allowed us to become so much more than you.
In my earlier post I was alluding to my point that this probably has something to do with our higher standards of morals and human rights, which were passed down to us from a Divine source. The only difference between us and you when it came to the crusades was that you are now as uncivilized as you were when the crusades were actually going on, while we have matured and developed amazing social institutions, and human rights.
Now, we on our side have ample resources, superior technology, actual military competence, AND our best commodity, which is our people who genuinely love good old USA style freedom of expression and association. So as far as I can tell, you backwater Arabs/Islamofascists can get ready to bite dust, you suckers. I won't say we westerners (as humans) should take all the credit, but look at what we've got and what you got and tell me there isn't a clear cut winner in this battle. Here's how.
The Coalition is currently putting to shame the Russians for their ineptitude in Afghanistan, just look at how quick the Taliban was put on the run. Look at how quickly the defending army turned into an insurgency who's only weapon is to hide among the civilian population. Russia could never have even gotten to that stage - I recall they blamed the Mujadeen's expert knowledge of the "terrain" as a reason for their failures to achieve even modest military gains. The coalition has accomplished several, and managed somehow to keep civilian casualties to a minimum.
And Iraq. How many years did Iranian and Iraqi armies engage in full-on warfare? And how many weeks did it take the US to wipe that very same Iraqi army out?
Why did the east ever want to start a stupid war with the west anyways? You should have just accepted Israel. Now it's too late.
BTW, I'm not Christian.

Mac, if it's DEBKAfiles you find amazing, remember that they are the Mossad's back door info service. This means that they have all the weaknesses of the Mossad, as well as its strengths.
This means that they will dismiss religious motives for a war - a very dangerous thing to do in this neighborhood. I've pointed this out a number of times, both in this article and elsewhere.
Finally, Mac, do not dismiss the other Player in all this. But look at some of my other articles here and at BlogCritics Magazine to get an idea of how I view the west that I came from...

Some basic Hebrew for you, then.
L'kabél means to receive.
M'kubál means accepable -OR- one who receives. M'kubalím is the plural of M'kubál.
Kabalá means receipt - either the receipt indicating you've completed a transaction, or a receipt of Divine wisdom.
So, in the sense that you are likely referring to, m'kubalím indicates people who receive Divine wisdom or kabalá.

A note for you all. Since the "pride parade" scheduled for Friday has been ORDERED to be allowed to go on by the little prick who has the title "attorney general" in Israel, I would expect G-d to show a grim sense of humor.
Look at all this from an Arab or Moslem point of view, the point of view of a Moslem who takes his faith seriously and who is thoroughly disgusted by these goings on.
Moslems call Jerusalem Al Quds (the Hebrew equivalent is "haQodesh") "the holy one".
In that person's eyes, "not only are the filthy Zionist occupiers occupying our Holy City, which is bad enough, they are hauling in their fag whores in to parade naked in the Holy City, AND they are doing it on the same day that we gather in the Al Aqsa mosque to pray. Damn them, double damn them, triple damn them, they deserve to die for their desecrations against Allah!"
Hmmm... Wouldn't it be interesting if Hizballah (actually Iran) decided to start an attack on Israel during this parade? And wouldn't it be even more interesting if one of their missiles fell on it?

Certainly, there are some things you just don't mess with in the State of Israel though. For example, becoming the PM and then giving away Gaza to a bunch of freaking savages. That can seriously mess you up. The homos should be fine though.

Ruvy, I saw your article here at Desicritics.org and I was intrigued by it, so I checked out some of the responses. The Torah desecration sort of angered me, I admit. However, I had no idea there was such a heavy eastern focus (and, I assume, readership) so when I wrote that long statement, I thought it was mainly lefties that would be reading it. Not 100's of millions of brown people.
Therefore, allow me to clarify. I don't have anything against Muslims as individuals. I have nothing against Islam as a faith. I have a serious problem with Islamic society though, mainly because it stinks. I am always cheering for countries like India and Ethiopia, but don't see much hope because there's too many countries like Somalia and Pakistan.
Anyhow, thanks Durgesh for clearing that whole thing up. I was a little mad at you but I think we're totally cool now.

We'll get back to topic in a comment or two. First, some more basic Hebrew. Hebrew is a language that is built largely on three letter roots. Because I studied linguistics, I use a liguistics approach to learning a language that is very foreign to me, and I study it using the roots of the words to expand my understanding, not just of vocabulary, but of nuance and color as well.
N-Tz-R is the root for the concept of safety, save, etc (there is a letter for the Tz sound in Hebrew).
So, the safety button on a rifle is n'tzirá. Lintzór means to save - as in to put a gun on safety. Natzúr is safe, as in a clean weapon. This word generally does not have the nuance of "to rescue," which is l'hatzíl or to save as in to reserve a seat; reserved seats will have a sign on them saying shamúr. I learnt this today while learning how to use an M16. But what burned the word into my mind is the fact that there are two other words that use this root. L'hitnatzér means to convert oneself to become a Christian, and Notzrí is the Hebrew word for Christian - a saved one.
The Hebrew word for Divine salvation is not related to this at all. That word is l'hoshí'a, the word that is the root for the Hebrew word hoshí'aná which is the root for the English word "hosanna."

Let's not quibble over silly things. Both south Asians and Europeans are Caucasians by racial composition. We have far more in common than we have separating us, and the Causasian race is not davka based on "white" skin. The average Neapolitan girl has a skin color very similar to an Arab, a Persian or a Desi. My sister-in-law, who was born and raised in Minnesota of Ashkenazi Jews, tans so dark in that in the summer that you would think she came from Guyana. By contrast, her sister, my wife, has such pale skin that she burns instead of tans. Only after five years in the Judean sun has her skin gotten any tan to it.

To get back to topic here. Very few people seem to be noticing that there are war games going in the Persian Gulf, or if they are, it is being sanitized from my version of Google News. Even bloggers (in English) seem to paying very little attention to the tinderbox that is ready to blow here.
Partly, this is because they just cannot believe that the tinderbox will blow. At BC Magazine, the sister site to this one in the States, very few people have commented on this piece. I certainly expected to hear from those who self-identified as gays, if nobody else, because a careless reading of what I wrote makes me sound like a homophobe, which I'm not.
Apparently, the elections are going off as scheduled, and the administration in the States is waiting to see which way the wind blows before turning on their own "fan" of martial law.
There is a sense of denial out there, and it is palpable. Events will have to force recognition of some very unkind realities that are driving events here and overseas.

It's worthwhile re-reading this article - both to see the real issues driving events here, and to see my failures as a prognosticator.
I still hold to the basic outline of events that I think will occur, events that seem foretold in the Torah (the prophecy of Bila'am for example), the Tana"kh, and in the Talmud and Zohar.
That is to say that Israel will suffer massive missile attacks from the North, whether it is from Syria, Lebanon (under the control of HizbAllah) or Iran directly; the present Israeli entity will collapse under the assault, and another Jewish entity will begin to arise upon its ashes: "In fire and blood did Judea fall; in blood and fire Judea shall rise."
This régime so condemned by so many will fall of its own inability and unwillingness to fulfill the prophetic vision of "fighting the wars of the messiah" and ushering in a Redemption of all Mankind. A régime dedicated to opposing Judaism will not last here, and of late, the régime has more and more opposed both the religion and the secular ideology that gave it birth, Zionism. In short, Zionism is dead. As is written in Tzefanyá, Asqelon will be destroyed, and the inhabitants of Ashdod will be driven out at mid-day.[Tzefanyá 2:4]
We have already seen the foretaste of the destruction of the Galilee foretold in the Talmud. Under renewed war, this destruction will be more complete.
I'm further convinced that the west will retaliate with nuclear weapons against Iran. Poisonous winds will wend their way east, which is the prime reason that events that occur here should be of concern to Indians and Pakistanis who otherwise have a full plate of concerns to contend with already.
On my failings as a prognosticator. Here it is almost two years from the writing of this article, and the "imminent" war has not taken place.
I have to admit that my "prediction" laid out in this article was merely a scenario for what might start a war here. I've given up laying out scenarios, and have come to the painful recognition that "imminent" in religious terms (Jewish religious terms, anyway) is not as "immediate" as I might have thought it to be.
So I'm no longer convinced of the immediacy of these imminent events. I have the gnawing feeling that I'll see my youngest son serving in the well pressed uniform of the IDF (or the Border Police) before the terrible events that will overthrow this State and its evils occur. That's at least a year and a half away.
As for the real issues driving events in this part of the world, we see that each time one of the criminals in power attempts "peace", it is derailed by the criminal acts of the "power-holders" themselves.
This website in English is out-dated, ad it deals primarily with Sharon and his corrupt acts as prime minister, but the Hebrew site is not, and is indicative of the tremendous opposition to the corrupt régime in power, and the willingness of Israelis to expose its crimes.
So we all know what trash sits on government hill in Jerusalem. The basic question we face is how to get rid of the scum. "A rising of the shire", as J.R.R.Tolkien described how the hobbits got rid of Saruman, will be bloody and difficult to organize.
Other issues seem to have arisen in the last two years that point to a crisis coming to a head, issues that I did not really foresee. One of them are the artificial food shortages and high prices and riots they have brought in their wake.
Another is the weakening of the dollar and the perception outside of the States that the U.S. has at long last lost its dominant role as a world power. Tied to this is the weakness of her military, stretched thin as piano wire world-wide. This leaves only the nuclear weapons as an effective weapon, the reason I'm so convinced that they will be used.
So, the tragic-comedy continues, and another week begins.

You need to know the history of the site a bit to learn why I'm here.
The original site I wrote on, where I met Aaman Lamba and his wife, Deepti, was Blogcritics Magazine. When he and Deepti returned to India from the States, they set up the Desi equivalent, a daughter site. I used to post simultaneously on both sites, Blogcritics, and Desicritics, until the decision was made that one could not post simultaneously - something to do with keeping the powers that be at Google happy.
Anyway, this is one of those articles that was published simultaneously at both sites.
That is not the only reason I'm here. I'm interested in exploring the ties between Jewish books of wisdom and Indic ones. But for the purposes of this article, I'm merely re-examining what I had written almost 18 months ago in the wake of the unsuccessful campaign in Lebanon in 2006.
Do you have confidence in the Indian unshaken beliefs in justice and fairness?
I only have faith in Divine justice of the G-d of Israel, Ushnishas.

Ruvy - NOBODY forces you to be on DC. You CHOOSE to be on DC and use the site for hate-filled propaganda. And then complain when that goebbelsian bilge is challenged. You then either play victim or insult India and Hindus.
As evidenced by your posts, you CHOOSE to be on DC simply and clearly to use it as a platform for anti-Islamist, anti-Palestinian propaganda.
But just to clarify, it seems to me that YOU are the guest here as the non-desi and thus the onus is on you to not insult the host cultures. After all, no one FORCES you to post on DC. As such to insult the host culture reveals more of your own fanaticism than you imagine.
But then its the same sort of thinking that motivates fanatic settlers in the occupied Palestinian territories: force your way into other people's lands/homes/towns, and then scream injustice and anti-Semitism when someone protests.

The Chinese Reds may have moved far away from the ideas of Marx, Engels, Stalin, and Mao, but they sure never forgot the "dictatorship" part of the "dictatorship of the proletariat".

And then how do you make the jump from yadavs to yehudis?
Also what is YOUR basis for assuming that Javas and Yehudis are the same, unless of course you have special access to history? Could you provide some reference for this? Other than your own rendering of the text?
